I was told by one of my many creditors <who still call constantly>
about a class action lawsuit against Neway. I had recently terminated my
contract with them after paying for almost a year and then them not
living up to their end of the bargain.I was told they would negotiate
with my creditors and have my interest rates reduced late fees
cancelled, etc. I was also told that my credit rating would begin to
improve after 45 days or so. Blindly I agreed to this offer and since I
was still getting my bills from my creditors I knew that none of their
promises were being fulfilled. No interest rate reductions, no late or
over the limit fee removal and after about 6 months of faithfully
sending them money, I decided to refinance a secured loan I have (which
most of theses places don't deal with) and when the bank checked my
credit report, Lo and behold it was still in the shi***r.
When I first contacted Neway, I was connected with a counselor (Gina Sweeny) and everything was set up, payment amount, dates, etc. After the 6 months when I tried to refinance my other loan and saw the credit report I tried to call Gina back at the extension I had, I get the message that that extension isn't available. I then go into a call pool and finally get an operator after about 15 minutes of call transfers and I simply ask how I can get in touch with my counselor. I am told that they no longer have counselors and it boils down to whoever answers your call gets the honor of blowing smoke up your ass.
I tell this operator my situation and my gripes and I get the same old "It takes time" story that a lot of the other posts I have read on your page seem to contain. I pretty much flew off the handle at the guy and told him he would be getting a cancellation of my contract in writing asap and may be hearing from my lawyer (If I could afford one to begin with). Not 24 hours later I get a phone call from an Ameridebt rep whom I have NEVER applied to nor have I even sent a mail so much as asking for info. But he is telling me that they got my app and crap like that. I replied that I never applied for their service. Are Neway and Ameridebt in some way connected? The only way he could get my info would have been thru Neway.
With the money I have paid them, I could have paid off one
and a half of my problems. I will give kudos to the collector for the
shysters at Nextcard tho (even though they are the reason I am in this
pickle but that's another story). Because when he called me AT WORK, a
number that I never gave out, I told him about my problems with Neway
and that I was looking for another way to settle my debts. He informs
me, after asking for his weekly cut of my grocery money, that he has
heard rumours of a class action suit against Neway, Inc. and that I was
not the only person that he had called that had problems with them. The
guy was really nice which is rare for collectors and I was impressed
when he gave me your web addy. Wish I could remember his name so I could
thank him in some way.
Okay I'll quit my ranting and raving which has grown long enough already. But do you or your readers know of any type of lawsuit or scam reports on Neway? |
