I have posted this under another thread but just realized that I posted it in the wrong forum. Hopefully I will have more replies this time.
General Revenue Corporation is a collection agency and trying to collect on a student loan. They have offered me a William D. Ford Consolidation. General Revenue Corporation is telling me that they will send me the documents, help me fill them out, and then I will have to send the forms back to them, General Revenue Corporation. This does not seem right. Why would I send consolidation forms from a third party back to the collection agency? Why wouldn't I send them directly to the consolidation company? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Do not worry. The reason they require you to send the application back to them is because they are inputing your application for you, complete with all of your loan information. Before they even send you an application in the mail, they have to input your application online with Direct Loans (company handling the consolidation) using the information they have from your account with them.
It is in their best interest to get your loan consolidated quickly because that is when they get paid the fee from your loan holder. Additionally, the application is a time sensitive document, meaning it will expire if too much time passes before it is processed. Don't worry. This is standard procedure for a consolidation. |
