Since they are losing their shirts these days, Citibank is really getting very aggresive with past-due accounts. They skirt the FDCPA by owning collection agencies, so when a Citibank collection agency calls, they can do whatever they want.

Surprisingly, Corporate Debt is Lower than it’s Been in Decades

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal today, percentage of consumer income (after taxes) going towards debt has edged up to 14% since 1990.
But the opposite is true in the corporate sector, where income which has gone to pay off debt has gone from over 25% in 2001 to 11% in 2007. [...]

Yesterday’s call:
My client got a letter from a lawyer who offers to represent her and is giving her an advance “courtesy” warning that she is about to be sued. These lawyers peruse public records and in the hopes of getting new clients. And this client had not been served!
