Mary Ann, you don't need a professional service - you can do this yourself.

Try starting here:

You can also try the discussion boards and talk to people who have been successful. (link at top of page).

To Rachel:You assist consumers? Please email me so I can talk to you about two collection agencies that are hounding us. I have ask for validation (from the junk buyer) then it was turned it over to another collection and they sent a letter about same debt. I am now sending a validation letter to this collection. I understand that they just pass the "debt" around to others and that this company has several names they go by. Any help would be appreciated Thank you

I have a business where I assit many consumers in fighting back against collection agencies, one of my clients just won a case on monday feb 2009 against a collection agency for 7,000.00 for a debt we paid and they never updated it for 7 months my client was trying to purchase a house and could not qualify with any negative information on her credit report, we paid the debt even though they never validated th account, just so she could get the house, well she didn't get the house and we send letter after certified letter, no response, we sued for 7755.00 walked away with 7,000.00.

I just recieved a 1008-C for over $900. from PRA - whom I wrote many months ago when I received my first notice - I sent them a certified letter requesting DV or cease and desist - and I did not hear back from them until now - I never had a credit card with the company they claimed - what is my best course of action to eliminate the tax consequences along with the negative impact on my credit report.

Thank you in advance for your .assistance/input - Walter
