I've read that you're only allowed two hard inquiries before it affects your credit score. As soon as you make that third hard inquiry, your score drops 12 points, then it drops another 12 points after your sixth or seventh hard inquiry.

I currently have 1 hard inquiry from an Amex card I had signed up for last year, but not I want to consolidate my private student loans. All of the consolidation companies I've researched perform credit checks, which means I only have one shot before my credit score gets lowered. If I can't get a loan with the higher score, I'm less likely to get a loan after it's been lowered.

Is there any way around this?

Would you send me your contact info?
