We know, we know. No one likes dealing with customer service. You don’t know where the call center is, how knowledgeable the agent is, and what script they are forced to follow. However, you can go a long way merely by just being friendly. OK, so you’re probably upset when you call customer service. This is no news to the person you get on the other end of the line. Why not be different and make their day? From the Consumerist, here are 2 tips:
Talking to Customer Service

  1. Engaging in friendly banter doesn’t just help you get what you want. It makes the call better for you too. These guys aren’t your enemy. In fact, right now, they’re the best friend you have in the whole world.
  2. At least once a minute, say ‘thank you.’ If you thought about it, you’d realize that yes, you do mean it.
