It’s kinda like paying for a movie and being forced to sit through commercials before seeing it. I recently reviewed a client’s purchased tri-merged credit report and noticed something I’d never seen before: there were one to two ads per page on the report. The credit report service will remain nameless. All right, all right, if you insist, the client ordered his tri-merged report from TransUnion.
My client’s credit was not stellar, by the way, and the ads were not specifically targeted to his credit situation - they were offering low interest credit cards: Capital One Credit Card Platinum and a $400,000 mortgage offer for only $2,240/month. You’d think a company making this much money could afford some technology for ad placements appropriate for the client’s credit situation.
Maybe this is an attempt to make up for the loss in revenue TU will be seeing when they have to offer these credit reports and credit monitoring services for free.
Honestly, is there no place safe from advertising? (And yes, we admit there’s no advertising-free zones on this website, either.)
