On Tuesday, September 23, the House passed the Credit Card Reform Act, which we’ve been following here in this blog. This is great news! The bad news? Congress is totally tied up with the economic bail out, so the Senate may ignore this bill. Let’s hope not. As we wrote before, the credit card banking industry strongly opposes this bill, so some lobbying may occur on the quiet while the media is focused elsewhere: the presidential election and the economic crisis.

Consumers need to continue the campaign by contacting the FTC and commenting, as well as your congressional representatives. There are online comment forms for US citizens to fill out and send emails to their specific representatives in both the House (click here) and Senate (click here).

For the details of the act, Read our initial blog post.
