  2. I'm considering applying for an iTunes card in addition to the Hooter's I just applied for....I'm a pretty frequent iTunes user...don't know if that will help. Do they give any love for folks in the mid/high 500's? Either of these 2 cards would be my first new cards in 4-5 years. I definitely need something new to get my utilization down....I'm also planning on "sock drawering" a couple of my current cards (like Orchard) so I can get the utilization down..b/c as I've read here, all my stellar payment history is being lost in the high utilization...I'm trying to stick to a debit card or cash o

  3. FreeCreditReport.com is a re-seller of credit information. They have software which pulls and merges the 3 separate CRA's files into a merged format to produce a 'report'. The process of merging and compiling may cause another person's data to corrupt the report. Your brother's first task is to determine if his Consumer File (as defined by the FCRA) with any of the CRA's is actually corrupt due to ID Theft or Fraud, or if he has simply gotten a bad merge. No need to clean up if the raw bureau data is not muddied. He should contact the CRA's directly and request his Consumer File from them.

  6. So, mine broke and I went to Staples to "pick one up". $93 frickin' dollars!!! I looked online and found one for $65, but with shipping and such it's almost the same. Is anyone else shocked? For those who didn't know (like me), take care of your laptop cords!

  11. When you sign up with Lifelock it is VERY clear that they will use Annualcreditreport.com to order your credit reports FOR you. There is nothing deceptive about it as Experian claims ! Unless you sign up without READING what you're signing on for, then you're just irresponsible. Experian's just pissed that Lifelock is actually doing something pro-active to stop ID theft - something the 3 CRA's refuse to do on their own. If they DID actually DO something, it wouldn't take so much time and money for people to clean up after an ID theft. They put so many roadblocks in the way because doing so

  14. Don't forget that much of the "public" held debt is held by other countries. Like China. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but maybe this will put it into some perspective: A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959. B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive. C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet. E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it. While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans . It is amazing what you

  15. PART 2 I pitched this experiment originally based on something I had seen and been involved with. I knew a guy (lets say his name was Sam) who had been involved in the oil business in the 80s. The oil field bust wiped him out. He owed $1million. One day, his daughter, who was in the 5th grade, answered the phone and some collector said "little girl, your daddy is a crook and he is going to prison". You can imagine how this upset Sam. He said he was going to pay all his bills but that jerk would be the last. A week or so later, he saw an ad for sale of charged-off loans. He had a little
