Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster! So long story short I had a lot of debt. Enough that I should have filed for bankruptcy. But it was a long time ago and in fact almost all of them are past the 7 year mark and off my credit report. My question is, now that I'm trying to improve my score and get a house, is will Capital One approve me for a card the 2nd time? I guess someone who has the same or similar experience, or even if you had one claimed in a bankruptcy would be helpful information. The main reason I ask is it seems they have some of the best credit rebuilding cards and I have even gotten lots of "pre-approved" mailings. The other question i have is if i did in fact apply for one and got approved, could they somehow put my long gone (credit report wise) past debt into my new card somehow? I ask because a credit union I had would not let me pay my car off unless I had paid off my other, unrelated signature loan. They also had in the terms they could repossess my car if my signature loan wasn't paid off. Thanks so so much in advance for any and all help!
