  1. FYI if they do forgive the debt and 1099 you that doesn't mean that counts as taxable income since The Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act and Debt Cancellation was passed. Of course it sounds like they already sold it so forgiveness won't happen. My worry is the Act is in affect till 2012. I wonder how may holders of seconds are going to wait till 2013 to forgive and 1099 people just out of spite.
  2. I know its too late to mean anything in this case, but I know why your certified mail - return reciept letter was lost. This happened to me a long time ago with Cap1. The post office told me that large companies like that sometimes sort thier own mail, and after the letter gets there its in thier hands not the USPS. I just wonder if that means there is some kind of agreement they have to make, and if any terms of that agreement are (or laws for that matter) were violated when they pull this kind of thing.
  3. Considering the fasted way to build your credit is to piggyback on someone else's credit line. Personally I have only 2 CCs that I've tried and they said the exact oppisite thing of the other one. Sears told me that since adding an authorized user would make that person equally responsible by law they must report to that person's CBR. US Bank told me that they are only authorized users and by law they couldn't report to thier CBR even if they wanted to. I did not make her an authorized user on US Bank. Sears reports to all 3 major CBRs. BTW this person was my roommate not my wife or anything. Her Bnko stuff is about to fall off in a year or two. We may want to buy another property so it would be in my best interest to build her credit up. I think I'll try Citibank or just apply for a Sears Visa since I know they'll do it.
  4. This one I'm currently learning the hard way: KEEP RECORDS OF YOUR DELETION LETTERS FOREVER!!! I'm talking about the letter the CBRs send you after they delete anything from your file. One of the first things I've ever had deleted from my record is reappearing agian 3-4 years later during a background investigation for a state license. I'm thinking it must be from a split file. If I had that letter of deletion this would be real easy to handle.
  5. A few years ago I tried to get on my father's AMEX and they told him they wouldn't do it. Makes me think you just have to find the right department or person to ask. I have a vested interest in raising my friends credit score. We bought a house together (as an investment) and I couldn't get grade A paper because, even though I had good credit, I didn't have the job history or documented income. She has the long job history and better income (she had to file medical BNKO 3 years ago). Once I get her credit score up we will refi with her name on the loan and bring our payments to about 1150/mo (down from 1800). Anyway anyone out there have luck getting US Bank to report AUs????? I'm thinking if I upgrade my card to a platinum they might do it. Thanks for giving me ideas!
  6. Am I correct to assume you never made a payment? Also is this a judgement or just a CO? I would say call the CBR and ask when its scheduled to fall off and why. They might remove it right there when you point out how old it is.
  7. From the website page titled Californians get a special break on full payment laws due to a legal loophole. (http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/sampleletter3.shtml) What does this do to your credit report? I wouldn't think the CA or OC would be anxious to update your CBR as PIF. Would you have to sue or threatened to sue under California consumer law? But then it still would show up as a paid CO. Also the link on the bottom of that page for "follow up" letter goes to a completely different letter about unauthorized inquiries. Unless I completely missed something that must be a bad link.
  8. I had this exact same thing happen to me with Cap1. I went down to the post office and they told me that big companies like that sort thier own mail. Because of this there is no way for them to track it, its just lost or something, and there's nothing they can do about it. I did eventually get my signed reciept back about 3 months after it was sent. I'd say go down to the post office and ask WTF.
  9. One time I had a cell phone collection item for $108. That company was bought out by another cell phone company, which was bought out by another company, which was bought out by another company, and finanally merge with Verizon. I paid off a lot of bills with my commision check, and Verizon had me call 4 or 5 different agencies. I had the money order in my briefcase for over a year before I decided to use it on something else. I'm pretty sure it never went on my father's credit (he cosigned). If it takes them a week to find your account, I don't see how they can verify within 30 days. Just thought I'd share. Also right now I'm in the process of helping my friend with her credit. I had her DV her collections (all paid but none reporting as paid), and 2 of them updated as being paid instead of removing without validating. One of them was only on TU then update TU and added the paid collection to EX (brought her score on EX down)!!!!!!!! GGGGRRRRRRR!!!! Its been about 35 days, so I'll send follow letter pretty soon.
  10. Sears deleted a late from 4 years ago when I asked them to. This was right after they were taken over by Citi.
  11. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. Good job.
  12. Send the prospective companies an email and ask them. US Bank told me they don't because AUs are not responsible for paying, but Sears told me legally they have to report AUs. I added a friend to my Sears and just yesterday they started reporting to her EX. Hopefully it will be all 3 soon.
  13. Not to be nit picky, but the address on my CBR (12-3-04 report) was Experian NCAC PO Box 9701 Allen TX 75013 The only reason I'm sending in my disputes is because there is no way to dispute personal info online. Otherwise I'm fine disputing online. Each time I do I get a free updated report.
  14. Just curious as to what other people out there are stuck on with thier credit repairing. For me its very little right now, one on each report. EQ and TU are reporting a paid CO being reported directly by Cap1 and EX is reporting a voicemail (I think???) CO from a CA that validated of $72 that will fall off within a year. I would also be curious to hear from people who were stuck on something for the longest time then tried something different and got results.
  15. Most interesting fact learned from the program: Credit card companies call consumers that always pay off thier balance each month and never pay any interest deadbeats.
  16. I asked both US Bank and Sears if they report AUs and Sears replied: So I just request an AU to be added on.
  17. Both? That would be really cool! My friend and I want to buy a house together and sell it in a year or 2. The problem is I have most of the credit and but she has most of the verifiable income (I've been job-hopping, she's been there 5+ years and make a lot more than me). If I can get some things off from when she went banko 4 years ago and a TL or 2 from my history I think we'll be good. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
  18. I looked and couldn't find. Specifically I want to know if Sears or USBank would report to an AU's CBR.
  19. My friend just told me that Washington Mutual has a program for established customer where if you have $1000+ in your savings account they will report that as a positive TL to all 3 CBRs. I don't know anything about this cause she couldn't give me any specifics. If it helps she has a 580 on one CBR and 0 on the other two. Just thought I'd throw this out there cause I know there are people here that need positive TLs somehow.
  20. Watchdog service- A service creditors or CA's use (offered by the three major CBs) that report any new info to them when you apply for new credit. Keep that in mind when adding a new phone # or address on an application, or even update with current creditors.
  21. Thoughout the past few years I have been able to get a paid C/O (from 1999) off 2 of my CBRs, but not TU. Last weekend my mortgage broker pulls my credit to begin the pre-authorization process. This weekend I find that Cap1 re-inserted the paid C/O on EQ after 2 years of being off. Also all CBRs show "customer disputes invetigation results" note on my Sears account. I've been reading the FACTA-revised FCRA and here where I think I can pursue them: 1. (Cap1) They are required withing 30days to notify me they have reported negative information (new law, couldn't find the exact section though, and I'm only guessing they won't) 2 (EQ) I'm sure they don't have a "certification of accuracy of information" (605.a.5.B.i), but who knows what the heck that is anyways 3. (EQ) I'm sure they won't send me notifications within 5 days of reinsurtion (605.a.1.A.ii/iii) 4. (EQ) They didn't report that information contained has been disputed (I diputed this TL over 2years ago) (605.f) 5. (EQ & TU) If they are reporting I'm disputing something on a TL (Sears) I have sent many letters telling them that I dispute nothing regarding the TL, then they are not "following reasonable procedures to insure maximun possible accuracy" of my CBR (605. The reason I'm sure about 1,2, & 3 is because I think everyone is treating this as a new TL insertion, not a reinsertion. My ultimate goal is to get enough leverage to coerce a removal of Cap1 from EQ and TU. EQ I'm not too worried about. They have been easy for me in the past, plus now I have enough violations documented. Its TU that has been a pain for years now. Can anyone think of anything else I can use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. One more thing. I've been reading summaries of the changes FACTA has made on the FCRA. One is that you must be notified if negative information has been reported within 30 days, and another is something about disputing directly with the furnishers of information (OC). But I wasnt able to find the actual statutes. Can someone help me out on this, even if its to tell me I must be daydreaming? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Cool chart!!! Wish I would have kepted up one of those when I started repairing my credit.
