  1. Thanks. Yes, the 2nd collection agency is Encore. I got the credit report from TU, the free one that someone gave me a link to. The OC shows as closed and zero balance as what I posted before. And then it shows that I owe to Sherman that $$ which has the same acct# as the original OC. So messed up. I am going to validate with both CA and see what happens. Should I mess around with the OC. Even though they show closed they are under "Delinquent Accounts".
  2. Hi KB, This is how the original creditor shows: Lender: HH/Rooms to go Opened: 10/1997 Account Type: Revolving Status: Closed Amount Past Due: $0 Under Delinquent Days, 30-60-90 days there is nothing, it's blank. This is how the 1st collection Agency shows: Lender: Sherman ACQ Date Opened: 06/01/2003 Balance: $x.xxx Accoutn type: Charge CArd Amound past due: It shows the entire amount under acct# they both show the same acct#. The 2nd Collection agency which is the one that has been calling me and I was going to settle with is not reporting it. Doesn't this mean that HHR sold to Sherman ACQ and Sherman in return assigned it to another CA? Or is Sheran ACQ part of HHR? They both are reporting the same account but HHR shows closed.
  3. Ok. thanks to all the advice and for your patience with me!
  4. The 2nd one is not on my report...only the first CA and the OC are on the report.
  5. I have from the 2nd one, but right now I can't remember if I have received from the Sherman ACQ (1st CA). I am waiting to get home to see if I did receive or not. I believe I did receive from them a while back but ignored it as I had no money to pay it and really didnt' even know what else to do with it. Does that make a difference?
  6. I'm sorry, I know I might be confusing at times In relation to this particular account this is the parties involved: OC-Household (reporting) CA-Sherman ACQ (reporting) CA- Encore (not reporting) The 2nd CA is the one that I spoke to that backed out of the settlement. They are the ones that were assigned by Sherman to collect. Do I send the validation to both CA's?
  7. OMG>..I think I overlooked it. The CA is being reported as well. Sherman Acquisition is there! Lender: Sherman ACQ Date Opened: 06/01/2003 Balance: $x.xxx Accoutn type: Charge CArd Amound past due: It shows the entire amount under acct# they both show the same acct#. Gum... What will my dispute be, not mine? paid as agreed? And now what...do I send validations to both CA's?
  8. Ok...this is how it shows, listend under Delinquent Accounts Lender: HH/Rooms to go Opened: 10/1997 Account Type: Revolving Status: Closed Amount Past Due: $0 Under Delinquent Days, 30-60-90 days there is nothing, it's blank. That's the OC. I don't see the CA anywhere.
  9. Correct, the OC is reporting but not the CA. I have requested my reports but I dont' have them as of yet so I am not sure if the CA has started to do so.
  10. I'm in Florida. This was a Rooms to Go Furniture Loan which was using Household Bank at the time. We got this loan 7 years ago when we purchased our home and had made all payments until 2001 when job trouble began. It seems that now Sherman Acquisition owns the loan and has assigned it to a CA. Now I have to worry about all the derrogatory from Household and Sherman. It's just gettting worse....
  11. I just spoke to the CA, I know I am not supposed to but I didnt' recognize the number on my phone. Anyways, now they are saying that the offer has expired and that they no longer will accept that amount. Just to make it clear because I think I might have confused myself... Original Loan:$2200 CA Amount: $3100 (includes late fees and interest they said) First Offer was:$2100 which was $100 of my original amount After speaking to them the first time they said they would settle for $1700, and that they were trying to get me approved from the OC for $1500 as a settlement. The lady I spoke to today said that they've had my account there for 95 days and that means that they will only have it there for another 30 days most likely. She said that once the OC would pull it from there it would probably go to another CA or even to an attorney's office. I would think that means that the CA did not purchase the loan but are just assigned by HHR to collect which is why they couldn't offer removal from credit. They are not reporting, just trying to collect. However, looking at the letter the CA originally sent me the creditor shows as "Sherman Acquisition LP", not Household. That would mean that Household sold it to Sherman and Sherman assigned it to the CA I have been speaking to, right? I'm thinking maybe the smart thing to do would be to send the Validation leter to the CA and see what happens. This is driving me insane...I'm so upset right now I dont' know what to do. And she really made me feel like I had no choice but to give her all my money!
  12. Oh My...I just read all the posts My intent is to pay, just wanted to know what is the average they will settle for, percentage wise. I just want to get the best deal out of it possible. Nothing wrong with paying the least amount possible , right? Thanks to all the helpful comments and advice.
  13. Thanks. I am reading the SOL, but account wasn't old enough. Thanks again for all your comments and suggestions.
