  1. I went online and am looking up a local, not some bogus national, legal firms. I found one in my town with lots of debt collection experience. Midland also re-aged my account. I am hiring and not fighting this one because I have too much at stake. I now have a job where I can get fired for my credit score dropping. I cannot let these jerks do this again and have it take a year to clear-up. i dont have that kind of time. And like I said, in the mean time my creditors will raise my rates. If they dont respond to the attorney's I will drag them in asap and make them pay my legal fees.
  2. I have been around a while and done a lot of DV since my identity was stolen in 2001. However, I have seen a few posts that I hope are incorrect... Can a collection agency "buy" your debt and start the aging process over again? This sounds highly illegal to me.
  3. I had many items, after ID theft seven years ago, finally removed from my 3CR. One was for an account with Providian. Now, Midland Credit has the account and has put it back on all three CR's. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. After nearly three years of being free of all this it is back. Also, they changed the dates to 2003 when the fraud account was opened and defaulted on in 2001. I did online's with all three credit agencies. They all came back saying "valid". Experian was the biggest joke. They came back in a few hours...in the middle of the night with their response. Now my cred

  5. Yes they are but that was not my question. I have heard that they hurt your credit score because now "secured" cards are a negative, not a postitive on the FICO ratings. I do not know if this is true or not. I have other cards and dont want to put this one of if it will hurt my score.
  6. My credit score is 635-680 depending on where it is ran. BOA turned me down for a regular card but approved a $99 down on $500 card. I have heard, however, that "secured" card actually hurt your credit score. Any answers?
  7. I finally got a card that didnt belong to me off my report. How much do I need to worry about it showing back up? Do the agencies tend to do that or are they tough with the creditors about putting stuff back on that they have removed???? My credit was not perfect but this mistake really hurt my scores....
  8. If these guys are doing this to many people, as it sounds they are, has anyone thought of a class action suit? One person may not really get an attorney's attention but if there are many you may have a good case.
  9. I was ONE month away from the SOL running out on a credit card debt (Providian), 3 years in my state. I checked my credit reports two days ago after getting a "fake" letter from a law firm trying to get me to make a $70 payment and saw, low and behold, the date of my last payment was moved from 2002 to 2003. I think the proof is up to me. How do I prove to the Big 3 I have not paid these guys is the last two years without sending them my bank files????
  10. Question: Does anyone have any experience with getting Red Light Tickets off you credit report? I got a ticket for being in the middle of an intersection when the light changed. The camera takes a picture of your lic. plate and they bill you. It has NOT gone to an agency, it is from the City of Washington DC for $150.00. They were sending to my old address. I have no issue paying for it, but I dont want it to stay on my report.
  11. This one is easy but I can’t seem to find an answer.... If an agency is collecting a debt from you, they are in a different state, and they are not the OC; do they have to be licensed in your state to collect? I have an agency in PA trying to collect from me in MA but MA requires license and bonding. They are not registered with my state. Do they have to be since they reside in PA?
  12. What number did you call regarding the payment plan? I have the same issue but have not been offered a settlement and would like to try. I have sent them 2 certified letters requesting settlement and have not heard back. PS...as far as this website is concerned a "settled" statement on your account is as bad as a open, unpaid, collection. Thanks!

TU had been good to me up to this point. I have a collection for Park Dansen that they reage and make look new. The original acct. for Sprint is over 7 years. EQ and EX have both removed the acct because the collection agency could not validate the debt. TU sent me a note after I sent them a letter with the DV and cert. mail slips stating that they check twice, the acct. was valid, and my request was "frivolous"... What now. I DV'd the collection agency twice, sent TU something twice.... AGHR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I found a place to look if they have paid taxes but not if they can collect. Where do you find this info out?
