  1. I cancelled when I got the little postcard. I was shocked that they thought they could just change the terms SO drastically and have everyone go 'OK' How stupid are they?? The CSRs have no idea, the one I spoke with tried to tell me I was 'forfeiting' my membership, and I was no damn way, you changed terms, give me my damn refund! Grr! Oh, HI EVERYONE!!
  2. that you will get the CC in a 'pre-approved' offer if you put down a balance transfer? i'm thinking of applying for this BankOne card, and sticking some of DHs debt on it.
  3. never heard of that one. wait the 30 days out, see if they give a proper reply.
  4. hmm, is there any way we can make it go to a judgment, like some type of agreement? so it gets done soon, you know, like before he owes them 20k??
  5. ok, so it would be difficult to do a Ch 7 on that? he has an old truck, thats about all his worldy possessions. his income is seasonal, so i dont think Ch 13 could work.. i did tell him if they took him to court etc and got a judgment he would be paying less interest..
  6. i guess eventually someone had to find out i was a sucker for helping people out.. so my friend (TX) has nothing but a big 16K CC debt. they jacked his interest over 20% and he has lost all enthusiasm for paying it, since he can no longer afford to. he was considering CCCS, but hasnt (phew) he was considering borrowing it from me but i dont have it. i'm thinking Ch. 7 Advice?
  7. i think this whole thing is just begging to become a lawsuit, and I dont think I would screw around in any local court, i'd be getting me a lawyer (www.naca.net) and sitting back and let the lawyer do his thing by taking it to federal. this is way more than a FDCPA violation, this is some dude telling someone to commit fraud against the government!
  8. woohoo!!! good job. if it were me, I'd be calling around to a few lawyers and see if any of them bite.
  9. when they call berate them for calling a number that it is on the national do not call list, telling them that you do NOT want to buy any, you dont care how much they cost, or if shipping is free, or if you get a free set of steak knives, but you dont need any lawn fertilizer. if they try to tell you they are collecting, cut them off and say you already gave at the office, and you really only give to charities that support animals or the enviroment, ask them if their product is organic, and who would the money be going to anyway? not the orphans! and how do they expect anyone to have any spare change to give to charity demand to speak to a supervisor then hang up. Hi!! elyse
