  1. It's soo disheartening (is that a word?LOL) -- I almost feel as though I was better off keeping all of the negative information on the report and I would have remained 560; no, I think im doing the right thing by removing the stuff and look what happens. How the heck am i going to obtain credit now, when two of my credit scores are in the 400's?!... I guess I should forget about getting prequalified for a mortgage. Yes, I am feeling sorry for myself -- but I was soo happy to be FIXING things... and feel like it was shoved right up my behind. My new idea (joking, of course) -- is to leave the country and come back as an illegal alien -- maybe I can obtain a new social security number and get some free loans to buy cars, start a business and get a house. Its soo funny (ironic/sarcastic funny) that in my neighborhood half of the people don't speak english -- but they are driving new Escalades and own their own houses and also have started their own businesses. How do these people get their credit checked?... I feel as though I am financing their american dream, meanwhile I live a life of shame/guilt for past mistakes. Well thank you all for hearing me out!... sorry for the babbling! LOL
  2. I AM SOOO MAD I CAN ONLY SEE RED RIGHT NOW. I DISPUTED INFORMATION WITH EQUIFAX (GOT INQUIRIES AND ITEMS REMOVED) ALSO VERIFIED BY SOME COLLECTION AGENCIES THAT ITEMS DIDN'T EXIST (THAT EQUIFAX SO-CALLED VERIFIED AS TRUE); THEY REMOVED 6 ITEMS FROM MY REPORT AND MY SCORE DECREASED BY 90 POINTS. HOW CAN THIS BE?... I WANT TO CRY RIGHT NOW AND JUST PLAIN GIVE UP. MY SCORE WENT FROM 560 TO 465 IN ONE MONTH AFTER NEGATIVES WERE REMOVED. HELP!
  3. OK, LEMME GET THIS STRAIGHT... IF I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU GUYS ARE SAYING -- "I ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT PAY ANY OF THE COLLECTIONS THAT ARE LISTED ON MY CREDIT REPORT?~!!" I CURRENTLY HAVE TWO FROM VERIZON AND ONE FROM COMCAST CABLE -- THEY TOTAL LESS THAN $500 AND I DEFINATELY COULD PAY THEM (I SINCERELY DIDN'T REALIZE THEY WERE EVEN THERE UNTIL I PULLED MY CREDIT REPORTS). ??? SHOULD I JUST LET THEM BE?... THEY WILL BE ON THERE FOREVER... CORRECT?... DO COLLECTIONS EVER GET BETTER?
  4. Unfortunately -- that option is not available to me - as my loans went to garnishment. I disputed the amount they wanted from me... and they decided that because I was always late -- that they would garnish my wages. It will not be removed from your credit report until it is paid. They gave me the option of rehabilitating the loan (which basically requires me to pay half of the balance -- If I could pay half of the balance -- they wouldn't have been in default in the first place!). I will give everybody advice here -- NEVER LET IT GET TO THE POINT WITH YOUR STUDENT LOANS -- THAT THEY GARNISH YOUR WAGES! Always, I repeat ALWAYS try to work out a deal (use deferments/forebearances, anything you have to use) to keep the loan current. thanks for listening!!
  5. Sorry to say this, but I think you have a better chance of meeting Jesus Christ. Student loans are the absolute WORST! Believe me... they are the reason I can't buy a house right now. If you do find out anything -- I would be glad to hear it... Good luck!
  6. QUESTIONS......... ON OR ABOUT 3/23/05 I SENT MY DISPUTE LETTERS TO THE BIG 3 -- GOT ITEMS REMOVED FROM EQUIFAX AND EXPERIAN -- TRANSUNION SENT ME A FORM LETTER ABOUT INQUIRIES AND THAT I NEED TO CONTACT THEM MYSELF... THEY DIDN'T REMOVE A THING AND MY CREDIT SCORE REMAINED EXACTLY THE SAME... WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP WITH THEM... I DEFINATELY DONT' WANT TO MAKE THE WRONG MOVE AND SCREW THINGS UP... TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE HERE -- AS I AM GOING TO BE APPLYING FOR A MORTGAGE SOON... ANY ADVICE/HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED... MUAH! XENA!
  7. ACTUALLY... I DID GET MY SCORES... STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO... THEY WERE TU 465/EQ 485 TO 553/EX 560; EXPERIAN AND EQUIFAX REMOVED DISPUTED INFORMATION... TRANSUNION DID NOTHING... SO... THAT, IM SURE LOOKS BAD...
  8. OK... IN PENNSYLVANIA THERE ARE QUITE A FEW FSBO PROPERTIES THAT MY B/F AND I ARE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING... HOW DO WE GO ABOUT IT WITH THE BAD CREDIT?... WHERE DO WE GO FOR THE LOAN?... I AM AFRAID TO EVEN LOOK AT A HOUSE FOR FREAR THAT I WON'T GET THE LOAN?.... ANY ADVICE... AND YES I AM CURRENTLY ATTEMPTING TO FIX THE CREDIT (BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE 3 AGENCIES TO GET THINGS REMOVED FROM MY REPORT)... THANKS
  9. how ironic... i received the same letter from transunion.... I had no problem getting disputed accounts removed from experian and equifax... but transunion just sent me the STUPID FORM LETTER... stating how they verify credit... what a joke... I spent days working on the dispute letters... actually sent a 5 page document to them... and then they send the form letter... and didn't remove a thing... what do i do now?
  10. OK... here is my question... You all know by now that I have crappy credit -- LOL and am trying to get a mortgage. I am currently working with the 3 credit agencies to get it fixed... (actually have increased my scores through equifax/experian from my dispute letters... Transunion doesn't wanna hear a thing... and they haven't removed anything either... so I am in the process of my 2nd letter to them... Anyway... my b/f is a veteran (air force for 8 years)... and his credit is so/so. We currently rent a home in pennsylvania and pay $1200.00 rent... how do we prove this on our credit reports?... Im sure it would help us!
  11. I am in the process of attempting to 'fix' my credit with all three of the reporting agencies. I've sent my dispute letters... even had some things removed from my report. The problem is... how can I now obtain credit. My scores are extremely low related to reporting of student loan more than 10 times.... which they will not remove. I have been denied credit because of the scores.... I have a great job... making almost 70,000 a year... and my ONLY debt is the student loan with a balance of $9,000.00 which is garnished from my wages as $250 a month. I am attempting to obtain a mortgage (laughs sarcastically) and have no idea of how i am going to build my credit without obtaining some credit. I have absolutely NO CREDIT CARDS (THOUGHT I WAS DOING A GOOD THING BY NOT HAVING THEM); have no car payments.... no revolving accounts... HELP... ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
  12. Has anybody ever negotiated witht he department of education once their wages were garnished for student loan default?... how do you go about it?
  13. Does anybody know how to go about negotiating with the Department of Education in reference to defaulted student loans. My wages are being garnished and I would love to make a settlement and get it taken care of?... mel
  14. Ill try to make this as brief as possible. I got 3 student loans in the early 90's to get through nursing school. I had various forebearances/deferments related to giving birth to 3 children and continuing my education. I also went rhough some financial difficulties because of two divorces. I also moved from my residence 3 times (or more); I was unable to pay them what they wanted... needless to say I received lots of threatening letters stating that they would garnish my wages in the amount of 500.00 a month, which would provide a huge hardship for my family. I am a divorced, now single mom of three children, who does not receive any child support (philadelphia court orders are a joke at finding deadbeat dads; I have a case, where the father owes me $7,000.) and i've yet to receive a dime (keep in mind this almost amounts to the full sum of the student loans. Anyway... Pheea/Sallie mae wrote to me stating that I had to prove a financial hardship in order for them to garnish less of my wages. I wrote a 50 page document stating what all of my monthly bills totalled. This included my rent, utility bills, childcare expenses, auto expenses, food, etc. etc. They actually replied that I should spend less money per month on food for my children - and that I did not deserve to own a cell phone or have cable tv for my children. Being a single mother with a 16 year old daughter necessitates being able to keep in touch with your kids while you are at work, driving 10 miles to work... etc. I lost and they are now garnishing my wages. This, in itself, is not the problem. The real problem is that I am trying to obtain a mortgage. I am now financially stable and the loans are ruining my credit. The loans total $9,500.00. They sold the loans various times throughout the years... and they appear on my credit report more than 10 times... for the same loan. I don't know where to turn..... I currently have no other debts... no car payment... no credit cards... NOTHING. I pay $1100.00 monthly for rent. I could use this money to buy a house... I am a first time buyer and have some money saved for a down payment. I cannot imagine waiting any more time to purchase a home, as I am already 35 years old... I can't find a bank/mortgage company that will touch me with a ten foot pole. To make matters exponentially worse -- in pennsylvania there was a law stating that nurses can have their student loans paid, in full -- because of the nursing shortage in our state... what a joke. If an body can steer me in the right direction... I would love you forever... Thanks ... Melissa Welsh. rmwelsh@msn.com p.s. I hope this wasn't too long...
