  1. There are Refiance options for School Loans. You can go to studentloans.gov and get a refi that will be based on you income. It may drag out the repayment but it is a good way to go. I just did it and took my liability from about $720.00 a month to $250 a month on my loans. I also got a lower interest rate. It took me about 30 minutes to fill out the paperwork and 60 days for them to process the loan. There are some companies that try to charge for student loan refi. All they do is get power of attourney from you and fill out the paperwork (which is easy and only takes about 30 minutes) for your behalf. If you have any questions or problem PM me and I will see if I can help. I was on the Student Loan rollercoaster for a long time and I learned alot about them as a result.
  2. I had a soldier tell me that the benefits were extended to all servicemen on active duty regardless of when the debt was incurred. Apperently, I was able to reduce all of my interest rates.
  3. I am currently in the military (active duty) and I came a cross this link a few years back. http://www.military.com/benefits/military-legal-matters/scra/servicemembers-civil-relief-act-overview.html It may help those of us on Active Duty. It seems this applies to all who are active duty. I recently went through and contacted all my credit card creditors and they reduced my interest rate below 6%. Hopefully this is a useful resource for those in the military.
  4. That is very good. I never thought of your approach (using the email), but that was effective and congradulations.
  5. I found this forum that is dedicated to fighting Chexsystems. Hope this helps others that are experiencing the agony of Chexsystems. http://www.chexvictims.com/AspNetForums/
  6. Just in case someone else needs to find the article here it is. http://creditinfocenter.com/FeaturedArticles/ChexSystems.shtml
  7. Does anybody know how to repair your check systems record and do the same rules aply to them as they do to credit reporting agencies?
  8. I liked your response so much that I cut and pasted it to my collection as template. thanks.
  9. At the end of Oct. I reached a settlement with Discovercard's thugs Wolpoff and Abrams. In the process I sent them (W&A) a DV and Discover a DV, well two weeks ago I received my reply from discover here is the meat of the reply. "Our records show that this account and balance was previously investigated numerous times and found that the balance is valid. We maintain the balance is valid and due in full. Our investigation is complete and final. We will no longer be responding to any further communitcations. The account will remain to report as a charged off account on your credit file. Payment must be received within 30 days from the date of this letter. Upon receipt of payment we will report to all credit reporting agencies in your area that this account is paid in full." The payment they are talking about is the remaining balance from the settlement. My question is, what direction do I go next?
  10. Florida and California. DAMN!!! Any UT Consults?
  11. sifxpert, you sound as though you are an experineced collector, you're not holding out from us are you?
  12. Ignorance is bliss, until you have to deal with a bastard CA. Then it just sucks.
  13. Well I contact Wolpoff & Abramson as per my discover account with regards to the settlement offer (for details see "My Discover Drama" http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=35953). They are very explicit about the time frame and they will not budge nither will they provide any proof that they represent Discover. I am having difficulty with them in the cooperation area and when I call them next I will record the phone call. However, I am wondering what kind of force am I working with? can they be resonable (probably a dumb question)? How likely would it be to get them to delete the trade line completely? If it isn't in writing would they sell the remainder to another Agency? In a nut shell what am I to expect?
