  1. My emails were like a goodwill letter. I stated that they were preventing me from getting financing on a home and would appreciate a one time courtesy...remove the negative information/lates. I emailed the same people over and over again until I got a response. I received a call from a woman in the Exec offices as well and she said she would call me back. I asked her when I should hear from her and she said within a couple of days. When I didn't hear from her, I called her and asked how her progress was going. Of course, she acted like she just got an answer as to what she should do and said they could only change my 90-day late to a 30-day late. I begged and begged for them to remove lates completely, but no such luck. A 30-day late is better than 90. I asked her to fax me a letter stating they were changing the 90 day to 30. She did. But what really helped me was the way they worded their letter: "As a customer courtesy we are contacting the three major credit bureaus to request that they delete the negative credit information from your credit file......" Then they listed the months they wanted the negs deleted from. I decided not to wait on them to notify the bureaus. I faxed the letter to EQ and TU. Once the bureaus get the letter, all they see is "delete the negative credit information" they don't pay attention to the months they are to correct. So all three bureaus removed all of the negs and made Cap1 a positive TL. I hope that helps you a little. Best wishes!
  2. I have been trying to clean up my credit since September 12th, 2005. I had about 9 or 10 baddies on all three reports. Since September I have been reading up on every credit forum I could find, creditboards.com being the last find. I began my disputes with EX first and managed to have 4 baddies removed with the first round of disputing with them. 4 others were removed by emailing the CA's and getting written statements from them that they were removing the lates (usually referred to as goodwill letters). I faxed those letters in to TU and EQ since they are so slow. EX gets notification from the CA's and removes them quite quickly. TU and EQ are totally clean now I have gone from 580(or so) fako score with each credit bureau to FICO's of 758-EQ 765-TU(you can get TU FICO from www.transunioncs.com or www.myfico.com) and ??-EX. I have not checked my FICO with EX yet, I'm still waiting for the last two neg disputes to be completed(currently, my FAKO with EX is at 693). They are still pending and should be done Dec 17th. One of which is Cap1 and the other is a collection account of just $28 (I know...I know...stupid me) In case some did not read one of my previous post, I managed to get Cap1(closed/paid account) to change my 90-day late to a 30-day late. They faxed me a letter of my status change and I forwarded it, by fax, to TU and EQ. Both CRA's managed to read the letter wrong and changed my 90-day late to ZERO lates! I was quite fortunate. I had disputed this account with EX before and it came back verified and I decided that since I had called in and updated some of my personal info (like name and address), I would try to dispute the accounts again. It's harder to connect you to accounts if they don't have the name/address you had when you opened the account I was told by EX that disputes for Cap1 usually come back within 2 weeks, they're fast at verifying, but it has been almost thirty days (EX has 45 to verify since it is from a free report) and no response. I'm crossing my fingers until Dec. 17th. If Cap1 does come back verified, I'll just mail in my letter in hopes that they make the same mistake TU & EQ made. Just under three (3) months and my scores have gone up tremendously. Just proof that anyone can change their credit history for the better. P.S.- I'm in the process of building a house that should be finished in Jan/Feb. The builder took out the loan and is allowing us to do a regular purchase from him. I should be able to get an excellent rate for the loan that we need with my scores and being that we are 1st time home buyers. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, GUYS AND BEST WISHES!
  3. I recently sent a letter to Wells Fargo, who did three inquires on my credit report, saying prove or remove and pay. They sent me a letter saying they needed my Fargo loan number or my SS#. I replied saying, that I did not have a loan number (duh!) and I do not feel comfortable handing out my SS#. Once again, they sent a letter saying they needed my SS# or a copy of my credit reports. Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I send the portion of my reports that have them listed as inquirers and black out my SS#? I refuse to give them my SS#. B.T.W......One of the inquiries are valid as I had been shopping for a mortgage earlier this year, but the other two are not.
  4. Just a little FYI for everyone. You can get a real FICO score from Transunion. www.transunioncs.com. It will say FICO on your results. I just checked and my score was higer than what the TU FAKO is at www.transunion.com. TU FICO 765 TU FAKO 718 YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEE New and improved results for FICO scores: EQ 729 (will be higher after removal of one and only 90-day late neg, workng on it) TU 765 (0 negs) EX ??? (waiting on 2 disputes to finish before pulling score, these are the last negs on the report)

  6. I'm pretty sure it will be a hard pull. Everytime I have had a mortgage company or bank pull my credit to be pre-approved or to "determine" a rate it was a hard pull.
  7. I recently was referred to INB Bank who offer $5000 grant money and under $1k closing costs. They have a few programs for 1st time home buyers and that is more than what I've heard of for any bank. The woman I spoke with, of course, stated that my husband and I need to apply (which is free) for them to determine which program we are eligible for. I am a little nervous about that because I have worked hard at getting our credit scores up and don't want to have any problems come January when we purchase the house if this doesn't work out with them. Am I worrying for nothing? Should we go ahead and apply? I have about 9 inquiries dated from April 2005 to Sept 2005 (7 of them jumbled together in May) from our mortgage shopping days.
  8. I just think its weird that TU would even use TC if they have different scales. I'll just wait until my disputes are settled with Experian and then use myfico.com and see what it says. What is the score range at myfico.com?
  9. I went to purchase my credit report from Transunion and noticed that it didn't redirect me to truecredit like it did last time. My score came up 713. Which I was quite happy with, but then in the notes it stated that my credit was fair, not good, and that lenders would probably not give me the best rates with this score. I thought that was weird. I logged on to my truecredit reports and my score was 693 at that is listed between fair and good and that I could get good rates with this score. I also noticed that even though Truecredit is through TU they use different score ranges. TU's range is 400-950 and TC is 300-850. Does anyone know what is going on?

  11. A couple of weeks ago I notified the Exec offices of Victoria Secret via email about removing a 90 day neg from my credit reports. They forwarded my email to a Relations Rep who quickly stated that he would notify all of the agencies and have the 90 day late removed. He faxed me a letter of confirmation last week. Now, get this! Today I check my mail from yesterday and low and behold there is an envelope from VS. I thought to myself..."oh no, here we go". I open it and there is an apology letter from the Exec office along with a $25 gift certificate. What you think of that????
  12. It is true. Your score will go up during dispute and drop if the TL's aren't updated to positive status. I checked my score with EQ and it was at 758 during dispute and then after dispute it went down to 699. I was a little disappointed it went down. I like the look of 758.
  13. The account was paid in full and closed in 2003. I just bugged and bugged them with emails until they called. The first time they called, their rep said that because it was not due to bank error they could not help......But I just kept on emailing the execs. From my read receipt, I noticed that they had to been having meetings about my emails because the emails were opened and forwarded two dozen times between them. Three days later, the same rep calls and says she's calling in behalf of the execs and that they are being quite gracious and changing my 90 days late to 30 and they could not remove all the negs due to FCRA laws of having to report accurate information....blah..blah..blah. If they can remove some negs, they can remove all! They are such liars! I tried to talk her into doing more, but she refused. She faxed me a letter of confirmation and that was that. But, now that I have the letter and I know I can prove the change of 90 to 30, I'm going to keep on bugging the execs about total removal of the negs. I've sent two emails today. One immediately after the phone call from the Rep. I'll keep you updated.
  14. Just wanted to let you guys know that I have managed to have all of my negs removed from my CR's, but one............and you know who it is.....CRAP1. My efforts in contacting the Execs at the the CA's has paid off, believe it or not. Each CA has agreed to and has removed the negs, (that I could not remove through disputes with the CRA's) but CRAP1 only agreed to take my 90 days late to 30. They refused to remove all of the negative information. I guess that is some progress, for them. I have gone from 9 negs to 1 in just two months. I'm quite proud of myself. If anyone has any suggestions on who I can speak with directly at CRAP1, let me know!!
  15. Is there anyone who has had success with removing negs with Capital One?
