  1. Did you ignore the court date? I would post this in the 'is there a lawyer in the house' forum and see if you can take action to vacate the judgement (in some cases it can be done, if you were not served or served properly etc.)

Otherwise, the Judgement stands and they can collect for a very very long time, SOL is a limit on time for them to sue you, but it appears they already did that and won.

    Fight the judgment if possible.

I did ignore the court date (I know that was dumb but you live and learn). Not sure if I was served properly. I came home one day and the summons, subpoena or whatever it is was in my door.

  2. ...funny you should mention it. There was a segment on my local news this morning about bad checks...seems people are receiving them out of the blue. Probably some scam. I would call the maker of the check and inquire about it.

  3. I wasn't sure where to ask this question, but I'll start here. Suppose your home went to forclosure. But before you lost the house you worked everything out with the mortgagor and your loan was reinstated after being on a repayment plan. The problem is the mortagor's attorney already filed a judgement which was entered. Should not the reinstatement of the loan cancel out the judgement?

  4. I think my SOL is almost up...however, when the SOL is up, what happens? Is the debtor still expected to pay? If not, does the filing party do anything to say that the judgment no longer stands? Should it disappear from searchable public records?

  10. For whatever reason, I thought that making payments once a judgement has been entered against you wasn't allowed. I thought you had to either pay the entire amount at once or the creditor would have to agree to settle the debt for less than the original amount. I have a $2300 +/- judgement with a company called Credit One LLC. It would be much easier to make a monthly payment than to come up with $2300. I need to get this cleared up before I apply for my mortgage. What do you guys think?
