  1. I wanted to ask for your kind help once again. I owe over $5,000 to a hospital mainly for two visits to the Emergency room. At the time, I did have health insurance. But since I never previously had health insurance, I wasn’t familiar with how the rules actually work – deductibles, out of pocket expenses, etc. So I mistakenly thought most of the bill would be covered by insurance. I’ve requested and received Explanation of Benefits letters from the insurance company. However, I don’t really understand the letters. I’ve called and talked to the insurance company several times o
  2. Hello, I wanted to see if you could kindly help me with regard to two bills I have received from a collection agency. Any assistance you can provide would be deeply appreciated. I owe money for medical services since I went to the hospital’s emergency room twice for heart problems. I stayed at the emergency room/hospital for about 4 hours or so the first time, and I stayed at the hospital overnight for observation on the second visit. The original hospital bill was about $8,000. I have health insurance through Anthem Blue Cross and apparently the insurance plan covered about $3,50
  3. Wow! Thank you, thegame26, trueq, and Alva. I was about to make a big mistake and was going to write to the original creditor. But based on what I learned from you guys, I'm not going to do that. Thank you guys for your time and help. I greatly appreciate your kind assistance!

  5. I bought a pick up truck in 1990 and I obtained financing from Toyota Motor Credit. Since my credit was horrible, they charged me an exorbitant interest rate. I continuously had great difficulty making the monthly payments, and I would receive collection notices from them almost each month. Finally, around 1996 or so, I made my “last” payment to them. That is, I still owed them around $400 or so, but they no longer sent me any collection notices or any letters requesting payment. I think they had already charged me an arm and a leg on the truck and had made extraordinary profits so they di
  6. Thanks thegame26 for your kind help! I think the reason that the collection agencies and original creditor did not put the item on my credit report may be due to the fact that there was some merit to the arguments I presented when I disputed the bill. Otherwise, they probably would have succeeded in placing the item on my credit report. This invoice is related to a cell phone bill. My goal is to settle it for the amount I think I owe (which is around $250) rather than the amount they claim I owe (which is about $500). Although the SOL will run out in about a month, I think I am going to w
  7. I received a bill from a company back in August 2005 for about $500. I disputed it and offered to pay $200. The company never accepted the offer. For over 3 and a half years afterwards, I received notices from 5 different collection agencies who attempted to collect on this alleged debt. I disputed the debt with each and every collection agency and, therefore, they never were able to put the alleged debt on my credit report. Although the original company never contacted me after August 2005 when they issued their last bill, and they instead had 5 different collection agencies contact me,
