  1. IMHO it is worth it if you cannot pay that balance relatively fast. If you are going to take 18 months to pay that off and you are saying $171 is less than 3 months interest then that is over $1000 in interest in that 18 months. Saving that $1000 is worth more to me than a couple points off my credit score. Again I am sure there are people who value a couple points over $1000. I am not one of them.
  2. I am not 100% certain, but I was pre approved about a year ago as well. Took the offer and I did not see a hard inquiry on my credit report. Again that was a year ago and I could be completely wrong.
  3. Thanks for posting this article. I am hoping to get a new car in the next few months and that was priceless information.
  4. Oh and I forgot to mention some valuable information. I had paid off the debt a couple months after (again over 4 years ago). So I do not have outstanding debt, but there is a negative mark on my credit report due to it.
  5. So I am new to all of this. I am not truly aware of what statue of limitations meant so I looked it up. I am in California and it states SOL is 4 years, which this negative credit mark is past. I will try to write goodwill letters to Citibank. I saw another thread all about goodwill letters sent to Citibank so I will see if I can get information from there. Thank you
  6. Hi, I am a new member here and found it as I was googling ways to repair my credit. Well for the past couple years I have been trying to repair my credit and currently I have one negative closed account from Citibank. It was a credit card I had in college which TBH I was being irresponsible with. Now I am looking to fix my credit and was looking through this forum for some advice. I know my chances of removing this off my credit report is slim, but it is even more slim that it is on a closed account? It's been closed now for 4 years. Thanks in advance
  7. Hi, I am new to this forum, but am in a similar situation with a closed citibank credit card. strive4credit, can you please PM contacts on who I can email? Thanks in advance.
