  1. Ok. So, I called Sprint today to see if they could provide me with any information. I asked them if they could tell me who is actually in charge of this payment, and they told me they've got a dedicated team associated with handling it. When I asked if that "dedicated team" happened to be ERC they told me, "yes". So, apparently the ERC manager, Wendy Sellers, simply lied to me when she said ERC sent the case back to Sprint. The next thing I did was take Clydesmom's advice and filed a complaint with the Florida Office of Financial Regulations. I outlined my entire process from first contact
  2. Thanks for the response, Clydesmom. I was planning on calling Sprint tomorrow to see if they can shed any light on the situation for me. I have no doubt Sprint would be willing to take my money, and I don't plan on sending anything without negotiated terms in writing, but if I pay Sprint, they can't really force ERC to remove the tagline, can they? My understanding is that they can only request that they remove it. The ERC manager told me they were only assigned the debt, and that they never bought it. Maybe that plays some factor. Although I obviously take anything they tell me with a gra
  3. This is another Sprint/Enhanced recovery Company problem I've had trouble correcting on my own. Hopefully someone could lend some advice if any is available. I first began monitoring my CR in the first quarter of 2012. In it I found a listing from an apparent Sprint bill from 2011 which was being reported as a collection by 'Receivables performance' as of at least April 2012. I requested validation from the CRAs and it was removed. Next I received a collection notice from 'afni collections' dated Aug. 30, 2012. I requested validation, and they subsequently left me alone. I received what
  4. My cuz n Vinny, I appreciate your input there. The debt isn't particularly old. Not even a year. I'm trying to just clear everything up and pay what I owe, but I don't want to give the money to leeches if possible. In your opinion would it be best to just write Afni a check and be done with it or should I pay Sprint directly? And if I pay Sprint instead, will they contact whoever alleges to "own" my debt and make the adjustment to my CR? Any advice from anyone would be helpful. Thanks.
  5. Hello all, I attempted my first debt validation letter - the typical, premade version - which asked for: What the money you say I owe is for; Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe; Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe; Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable; Identify the original creditor; Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account; Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state; and Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent. ---------------------------- They sent
  6. But what I was really wondering was why it would show I owe $843 at myeddebt.com, then I pay it all, then four days later it says I owe another $168.
  7. I was wondering if anyone had some insight into this... After logging into the nslds.ed.gov website I saw the listing for $843 for the total of all loans. So then I was trying to track down who I was supposed to pay with some phone numbers and stuff and I was eventually led to myeddebt.com After logging in there they had my account information, the $843 owed and $17 in fees or whatever and an option to pay through the pay.gov website. I follow their instructions, get redirected to the pay.gov checkout and pay the entire amount $860 in one payment. This was on the 26th and the nslds.ed.gov webs
  8. Well, the reason I am asking is because there are so many threads within each sub-category of these forums that have tidbits of information, that, without prior knowledge, could be detrimental to handling. Paying a bit on an old debt could reactivate it for another seven years. Or if the creditor and the debtor come to an agreement to have information removed upon payment without getting that in writing. Things of this nature. They may seem like foolish questions to many of you, but I'm just trying to make sure I close things the best way available to me. I'm really just trying to find out if
  9. Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice. Unfortunately a while back I had a siuation that made it very difficult to pay back my student loans for such a while and they defaulted. They're not such a ridiculous amount and I've been working to save enough to pay them off completely and I'm looking for the best way to do so. I pulled a copy of my credit report for the first time and looking at my TransUnion report now and it lists: DIRECT LOAN SVS SYSTEM Pay Status: In Collection Date Opened: 08/30/2005 Date Closed: 03/31/2010 Loan Type: Student Loan But then it also lists two separate US Dept
  10. Yeah, I definitely didn't use the card in 2008 and I'm pretty sure it was never used beyond 2004, but it was a long time ago and I never thought about it until now. I'm also not exactly sure how I dispute it. Do I go to the TransUnion website and follow their dispute link? What information should I include with my dispute? "Hey, this doesn't make sense. It shows I paid in full in 2004 and I'm carrying a zero balance, yet I have late payments on the same month two years apart." My first time dealing with this stuff. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  11. Under late payments it shows (47 months) and lists the little calender from AUG 2005 until JUN 2008 and it says 'OK' in every single box except for the same two months right on top of each other. It has a '30' box on MAR 2006 and MAR 2008. I doubt I even used the card in 2006 and I know I didn't use the card in 2008 definitely. But what I don't understand is why the card is even being listed there at all. I never used it more than that one time I believe and paid it off in full about two weeks or so after. I never went to close the card myself. I really just never used it and I assume they di
  12. I just pulled a copy of my credit report for the first time. So, naturally, I don't understand a lot of it. However, one thing stands out as unusual. Under a heading entitled 'Adverse Accounts' I have the following information listed. ---------- HSBC ELDER BEEMAN #**************** POB 5253 CAROL STREAM, IL 60197 (800) 695-6950 Balance: $0 Date Updated: 07/28/2009 High Balance: $52 Last Payment: 10/08/2004 Pay Status: Current; Paid or Paying as Agreed Account Type: Revolving Account Responsibility: Individual Account Date Opened: 03/24/2004 Date Closed: 07/21/2007 Date Paid: 10/08/2004 Loan Typ
