  1. Hi, A question for my CIC friends: When a credit card issuer does not have typical retail bank operations, but is primarily an issuer of credit cards, and issues a credit card through a standard retail bank, who is the proper reporting entity listed on a credit report? For example, lets say First National Bank of Omaha (who has no retail locations) issues all credit cards for First Community Bank (who has retail locations), who is the proper party to be reporting on a credit report? Thank you.
  2. Hi, About two months ago, I noticed a few inquiries on my credit report that I did not recall authorizing, so I disputed each one with the companies listed on my credit report, CMRRR. Over 30 days has passed since each company has received my dispute letter; of the six or so companies that have received the letters, only two have responded. I thought that they were required to respond within 30 days after receipt of the letter or they could be sued. An attorney I spoke with stated that I had to dispute through the credit bureus first, but that doesn't do anything because they just check eO
  3. Hello if anyone can help me with an answer I would really appreciate it. I received some junk mail in my mothers name today and it said she was being sued. It was an advertisement for a lawyer. I noticed a case number so I looked It in the superior court website and found something had been filed againset her on 3.5.15 My mother passed away in 2012. The summary also says 3/6 a judge signed an order to show cause why sanctions should not be imposed for failure to file 3/25 summons and complaint returned.not found matter continued I am not sure what to do at this point. My mother
  4. I've been living in Florida for 8 years now. I've built my credit up to just under a 700 score. Not great, but I've made a lot of progress. About 2 years ago I started getting really proactive about it to the point that I check my credit report at least every other week, and there have been no judgements or collections on my credit report in that time. Today (2015) I got paperwork in the mail from my bank stating that $4,652 from my savings account was put on hold by an attorney because of a judgement that was filed against me in New York in 2005. This included (from what I understand) 10 yea
  5. A big factor in my low credit score is the fact that I currently have too much debt. Luckily I don't have any collections, judgments or anything too nasty (other than dreaded late payments this past fall) to worry about. I am wanting to start paying down my debt but I want to do it in a way that will help my credit score improve. I have various credit cards as well as loans, some loans are through banks, some are through other lending institutions like Security Finance, Sun Loan, etc. I've read that loans aren't revolving lines of credit like credit cards are, therefore credit cards that a
  6. IS MY COMPLAINT VERIFIED? Hello all! So, I've been looking through these forums and they just seem so awesome and helpful! I've been searching for a case similar to mine and I believe I found a very helpful one here: http://www.creditinf...a/#entry1202922 BUT… I need to know If my complaint has been verified. The filed Complaint itself has no mention of the statement "I declare under penalty of perjury of the laws of the State of California that the foregoing is true and correct this date…" - the only place where that statement is present is on the Statement of Venue - so is this considere
  7. I am in the process of sending out my First Dispute Letter. How many items should I dispute at once where it won't be frivilous? If I don't get all my accounts on the First Dispute Letter, when do I send my second or third to dispute the rest? Thanks
  8. Hello all, been reading hundreds of posts from this forum and it has been inspirational as well as educational. I am in need of some specific advice however. I have been pretty bad over the years with collections and finance. I even had a chapter 7 bankruptcy back in 2005. Well I have had a good job for 5 years now ($90,000 a year). Still wasn't th ebest at paying stupid things however. For instance I have broken leases, broken cell phone contracts, medical bills etc I had not paid. Well as of last month I have paid every debt I have other than my car payment. My scores last month were 500,
  9. When Health Costs Harm Your Credit By ELISABETH ROSENTHAL, NEW YORK TIMES MARCH 8, 2014 LIKE most people, I am generally vigilant about paying my bills — credit cards, mortgage, cellphone and so on. But medical bills have a different trajectory. I (usually) open the envelopes and peruse the amalgam of codes and charges. I sigh or swear. And set them aside for when I have time to clarify the confusion: An out-of-network charge from a doctor I know is in-network? An un-itemized laboratory bill from a doctor I’ve never heard of? A bill for a huge charge before my insurer has paid its yet u
  10. Following a dismissal, (with or without prejudice) of your case before trial, or following a trial ending in a judgement in your favor, what did you need to do to get the JDB's collection effort removed from your credit report? And how long did removal take following the dismissal or the judgement in your favor?
  11. Gotta read the fine print- There was a radion show on CBS KNX LA about some consumer attorney trying to fight this via a class action suit http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/agreement-purchases-repossessed-1276.php
  12. Five years ago I lost my job and had to fight my company over three months for unemployment benefits. I fell behind on my rent and was evicted from my apartment. I should have paid what I owed when my unemployment was approved however; I was irresponsible and chose not to. It did not matter to me at the time but fast forward 5 years and I now have a family and am experiencing firsthand how important credit really is. The past due debt (3k) was reported to the CRA’s in 10/2009-Should I wait another two years and let this fall off my cbr or would it be worth it to pay it off now? Help!
  13. Government shutdown didn't end without repercussions Article courtesy of "Credit Card Builders" Premium Newsletter. The government shutdown has ended – at least for the moment. But the first shutdown since 1995 did take a toll on the country. Of course, the shutdown occurred because House Republicans were insistent that new spending bills include language that damaged or eliminated Obamacare; while Democrats were just as insistent it remained intact. Most people only think about the billions of dollars that were lost, such as the estimated $24 billion in lost economic output; and $450,000
  14. Interesting article about the dropping jumbo mortgage rates. Article credit: Credit Card Builders - www.creditcardbuilders.com Anyone who routinely pays relatively close attention to mortgage rates is aware that they’re on the rise these days. But what you might not know is what is going on with some specific rates. Jumbo rates (rates for a loan of more than $417,000) have come down significantly – to the point where they are nearly the same as a conventional rate (those $417,000 and under). In fact, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association, a 30-year conventional mortgage rate in mid
  15. I have 5 Collection Agencies on my credit report. Should I just send out a dept validation letter to each one to get things rolling?
  16. Long story short, I am in Chapter 7 and am surrendering my car. I am going to get a new car after I get the bankruptcy discharge (some 40 or so days from now), but need transportation in the meantime. I figured I'd just use my debit card to rent a car but have noticed a disturbing trend with some of the rental companies checking credit scores even if you use a debit card. Are there any car rental companies that are more friendly towards some of us with bad credit/bankruptcy on the credit report? Thanks.
  17. Greetings, we're looking for feedback on a website we're building to bring free, unbiased financial guidance to mainstream America. Would love your thoughts on www.guidefinancial.com We are building in a guide covering credit consolidation. Would it be useful for you? We're helping people decide between mortgage consolidation, balance transfer cards and peer-to-peer loans. Which would make sense for you? Thanks! Scott
  18. Hi, I'm been doing a little reading on this but I'm still unsure as to how to go about this, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. A few months ago, I pulled up my credit report and realized there were two entries on it from a certain telephone company. I disputed the entries with all three credit bureaus; they all came back verified. I then called the telephone company, and was told that these accounts were 'at a zero balance' and that they did not have any original records on them. I did get the representative's name, customer ID, and date/time of call (I take good notes! lol), so he
  19. Hi everyone, I got a letter in the mail yesterday from a local attorney office stating that I am being sued for money due. This attorney office wants to represent me but I have NOT been served papers yet. I went to the Court website and i see the case was filed May 9th 2013, There is no court date and no papers have been served. I have not owned a credit card in over 6 years. Isn't this debt passed the Statute of Limitations? I recently bought a house in 2011 and I'm guessing they must see that as assets they can seize to pay this debt. I don't understand why this came up all the sudden? I
  20. First of all, Thank you for your time & attention! Can someone help me by giving me an example or template for: -Praecipe to Submit Preliminary Objections -Preliminary Objections I took out 3 non-federal student loans to help pay for my undergraduate degree. My dad is my co-signer on these loans. I graduated then went to Asia to get my MBA with Syracuse. Crossing languages & countries- the Plaintiff didn't acknowledge that I was in grad school therefore they did not defer my loans. I have not mad any payment on these 3 loans. I was served papers for a civil action law suit (
  21. The ex-husband was awarded the marital property in the divorce decree. The mortgage deed contains the name of the husband and the wife. The mortgage loan was under the name of the wife ONLY. More than 3 years has past and the ex-husband announced 2 weeks ago that he has built another house in another county and the marital property is about to go through foreclosure. Again, this mortgage loan is in the ex-wife's name ONLY. The collection agency has apparently been searching for the ex-wife but no communication has yet been made. Until two weeks ago, she was not aware that the property was
  22. Hey I know there are many postings with stock settlement letters, but I just wanted to get an opinion on this one because I've read that it's almost better to make it "personal." Also, I wanted it to get through that this offer is all that I can afford. The debt is for $800. A couple of months ago I sent a PFD request for $250. They called and said they would not do PFD or even Paid in Full. They would only do settled in full. At this point, I just don't want any more open collections on my CR. She also said $250 would not be enough. So, I said I would call back after I thought over my optio
  23. Anyone have any idea how to dispute on Experian without buying a report? I just need to have it updated because a judgment was satisfied. I don't want to pay another 15 for this. With Transunion and Equifax I know how but can't figure this out. I know in the past I found a link to be able to do it, but can't figure it out now. Any help?
  24. I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I'm posting from my cell and it's very hard to look through searches. Am I correct in understanding that a dispute with a credit bureau should take no more than a month? I've read that it must be completed in 30 days and possibly a 15 day extension if the disputer provides more information. So, if I entered a dispute online with Equifax on 1/7, should it not be required to be completed by now today? Any idea of what my next course of action would be if it is not?
  25. I've been going through this saga of trying to clean up my credit report and many thanks for the responses I have gotten. So there are a few tradelines on my credit reports regarding one student loan that I had defaulted on. Going back through my school records, I took it out in the period ending June of 2005. If I never paid that one (just took care of it a few months ago because I know they can sue for that forever) would it most likely be past the 7 year reporting period at this point? It is reported a few times under AES/NCT, National Collegiate Trust, and Citizen's Bank. They all list dif
