  1. Ok so, due to being ignored by the bureaus, i have sent my 3rd letter to all 3 bureaus warning them that i will be sending a formal complaint to the FTC, however i have never gotten this far. Can someone please assist me in writing a letter to the FTC about this.
  2. Ok, so it's been 30 days and so far no reply from Transunion on a dispute, now what do I do?
  3. Hello, Life Lock's ID protection has the option for credit monitoring. I realize that they use Vantage Score 3. but it has the same range as FICO, 300-850, which a Life Lock rep stated in an email but didn't take the time to look at the score. It is a single digit- 4. How can I be 296 points lower than the lowest possible score? I have yet to pull my FICO from freeannualreport but any comments, opinions, ideas, recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
  4. Submitted dispute letters, along with a change of address to all three credit reporting agencies. I received a letter from Transunion stating that my supporting documents (passport/bank statement) were 'unacceptable id'. In the letter it didn't state that I needed to resubmit the correct documents, or that my disputes were put on hold. My question... Do I respond with supporting documents giving Transunion additional time to conduct their re-investigation? Do I not respond, in hopes they stay within the 30 day window? Thank you kindly for your time, help and consideration.
  5. John Oliver skewers credit bureaus for false reporting of consumers' credit histories and failing to take proper measures to correct errors in this hilarious presentation. http://time.com/4288093/john-oliver-credit-reports-last-week-tonight/
  6. A while back I had applied for a merchant account with a 3rd party company who states they approve riskier type internet companies selling a service and not a tangable product. I had called this company for over 30 days with no return calls or emails to check the status of our application. I never received a letter of denial from the issuing bank they applied to or the company. Finally after 60 days or so I reached someone at the company and asked them why I am not getting a letter of denial and that I have the right to know the reason. I got the run around. I thought they are supposed to se
  7. I have learned a lot in two days of browsing and I greatly appreciate all of the information here so far. I have one quick question. Midland Credit Management aka Midland Funding is on my credit with a suppsed debt to a bank. They initially said I owed $5,XXX and every month or so, that amount has increased to over five figures now. Anyway, I called TransUnion about something unrelated and they tell me over the phone that it's actually scheduled for deletion off my credit report NEXT MONTH. Such joy. One report says that the date of first deliquency is April 2008, another October 200
  8. 9 questions about credit scores you were too embarrassed to ask Imagine trying to lose a few pounds without ever stepping on the scale or trying to cut your cholesterol without ever getting it checked. Tens of millions of Americans are taking a similarly blind approach to their money. Everyone wants their finances to be in good shape, but less than half of all Americans even know their credit score. That's not good — a bad credit score can mean a high-interest loan that costs you thousands and thousands of dollars over the course of a lifetime. But it's not just laziness. Private companies o
  9. I am soooo frustrated with this whole situation and desperately need help!!! I am trying to buy a house and they pulled my credit report and a collection came up that I never knew about. Yes, I did do business with this company, but I left on good terms with zero balances. The creditor is the Housing Authority in Colorado Springs. I had lost my job in 2005 and applied and received housing. I paid a discounted rent until I could finish college and find employment. In 2008 I accepted a job in Denver so I wrote them a letter saying thank you for helping me and I no longer need assistance because
  10. I sent a 623 Letter To Bank and They Responded account was sold another bank. Direct Merchants Bank was who I filed dispute with. Got a letter back from HSBC stating account sold to a JBD, They ask me to direct inquiries to the JBD. What now? I was disputing the debt that appeared on my credit profile, the amount and date of last payment. Help!
  11. Hello, What a great forum. I have been looking it over for about 5 weeks now and researching what I can and trying to search for my answers .. Here's a brief history of my story/problem. My husband was attending a really crappy tech school, they gave us a private loan through them. My husband stopped going to this school. They are trying to bill us for the whole time of the program even tho he went only half way. While he was still in the program (right as he was getting ready to quit) I asked the school for a breakdown of what we owe so I can dispute it. The financial aid office and bus
  12. I am in a dispute with one of the three major credit bureaus. In my research for case law and supporting documentation for what I believe are numerous FCRA violations, I came across this very helpful report from the National Consumer Law Center entitled: "Automated Injustice: How A Mechanized Dispute System Frustrates Consumers Seeking To Fix Errors In Their Credit Reports." The report breaks down the process by which Experian, Equifax and TransUnion handles consumer disputes for investigation or re-investigation, how and where they outsource the process to, the automated systems involved,
  13. I disputed with Transunion and they sent me back a letter stating that my dispute was frivolous under the FCRA,and will not re- investigate and that the items are accurate as they see it. They said that I can send them a consumer statement or contact the creditor directly. So what do I do? I disputed the amount and the last date of payment as I wanted to also verify that the SOL may be up as I think date of last payment from orginal creditor may be incorrect. I dont have records of last payment, unless I request from the bank to prove the the date of last payment Can I do that to validate
  14. I sent a CMRRR dispute to TU and received my credit report. The letter states, “Enclosed is the TransUnion Personal Credit Report that you requested.” The only thing is, I didn’t request my CR. I sent TU a dispute letter. A few months ago, I experienced the same thing with EXP. Is this some new, stall tactic? I didn’t respond to EXP and the disputed item was deleted. I don’t plan on responding to TU but wanted to see if this is happening to anyone else? Recently, I received 3 CMRRR, green cards, the bureaus conveniently forgot to date stamp. Luckily, I have my receipts and was able to trac
  15. Hi, I'm been doing a little reading on this but I'm still unsure as to how to go about this, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. A few months ago, I pulled up my credit report and realized there were two entries on it from a certain telephone company. I disputed the entries with all three credit bureaus; they all came back verified. I then called the telephone company, and was told that these accounts were 'at a zero balance' and that they did not have any original records on them. I did get the representative's name, customer ID, and date/time of call (I take good notes! lol), so he

  17. Recently, I disputed several unauthorized credit inquiries on my TransUnion Report. In return, I received the most ridiculous letter and transparently bogus offer for credit monitoring in the mail from TransUnion. The letter was dated February 22 and states: Dear Consumer: We want to make you aware that due to a technical issue that we have since resolved, the security freeze that you have in place with TransUnion was briefly deactivated and during that time period one or more inquiries from a creditor or other party with permissible purpose were made on your credit file. Please note that
  18. I sent a Dispute letter to TransUnion that was recieved by them on 2/25/2013 they have now sent back a letter requesting me to verify my address and that the documents that I originally sent were not good enough. They have put some of the accounts I disputed as "Account info dissputed by consumer" not all of them but some. So should I reply to this address validation or does that start their clock over again?
  19. Hi, I am disputing a medical collection on my credit reports. While I am disputing with the original creditor because of billing errors, I am also questioning how this is posted to my credit reports, and how the information may potentially be shared with others. My TransUnion report shows the collection listing in this fashion - Original Creditor: Med 1 02 - and then shows the medical provider's name and the type of physician. I am under the impression that the code Med 1 02 puts a privacy block on the information that follows per HIPAA regulations. Can anyone confirm this? The same list
