I broke a lease in August 2013, and was informed by the office staff that I would have to pay a concession fee of around $1200, but I never heard any more about it. I recently pulled my credit report and found that this account was assigned to a CA. I sent a validation letter to the CA, and they sent me two pieces of paper, the final page of my lease, showing my signature, and a move out form, which was not done in my presents, that listed a cleaning fee of around $150, and Damages at around $500, along with numerous other fees. The apartment was clean and there wasn't any damage to the property. I had lived in this apartment for four years, and moved for school after receiving a last minute acceptance letter. How do I proceed from this point? I attempted to get an apartment in another city, and was denied, obviously this was the cause.

Copperfield Village in Houston was home for 2 years then family was moving to Arizona conveniently right when my lease was ending and I moved. I gave the complex 60 days notice, when they called asking me to sign a new lease twice in the two months before I moved I reminded them I had given them written notice and would not be renewing. Paid the rent all the way through the end of the lease, moved out, cleaned the apartment and even had the carpets done professionally, all nice and neat. Moved and was happy until IQ Data calls demanding over $500 for "insufficient notice"?! I called the complex and they told me they had taken my 60 day notice as a warning that I was thinking about breaking my lease early and had disregarded it since they asked for 30 days notice in the lease, I had brought them another copy of my notice in November when they called asking me to come sign a new lease in addition to the one I gave them in October. Can I seriously be charged a fee for giving a complex too much notice and not renewing my lease leaving a neat clean apartment paid in full through the end of my lease term? This is showing on my credit report and has now been there for 2+ years as I moved in Dec 2012.

I have a question about breaking a lease for medical reasons. I went to visit my daughter and while there i had a medical issue. As a result i couldnt go back to Texas, where my apartment was. Im currently in Tennessee. I didnt know i was in collections until i looked st my credit report. I got no notification at all from anyone. What can i do about this collection? Ive never had this issue before. Never had credit problems like this. Thanks for any guidance
