  1. Ok so, due to being ignored by the bureaus, i have sent my 3rd letter to all 3 bureaus warning them that i will be sending a formal complaint to the FTC, however i have never gotten this far. Can someone please assist me in writing a letter to the FTC about this.
  2. Ok, so it's been 30 days and so far no reply from Transunion on a dispute, now what do I do?
  3. Hello, Life Lock's ID protection has the option for credit monitoring. I realize that they use Vantage Score 3. but it has the same range as FICO, 300-850, which a Life Lock rep stated in an email but didn't take the time to look at the score. It is a single digit- 4. How can I be 296 points lower than the lowest possible score? I have yet to pull my FICO from freeannualreport but any comments, opinions, ideas, recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
  4. Submitted dispute letters, along with a change of address to all three credit reporting agencies. I received a letter from Transunion stating that my supporting documents (passport/bank statement) were 'unacceptable id'. In the letter it didn't state that I needed to resubmit the correct documents, or that my disputes were put on hold. My question... Do I respond with supporting documents giving Transunion additional time to conduct their re-investigation? Do I not respond, in hopes they stay within the 30 day window? Thank you kindly for your time, help and consideration.
  5. A while back I had applied for a merchant account with a 3rd party company who states they approve riskier type internet companies selling a service and not a tangable product. I had called this company for over 30 days with no return calls or emails to check the status of our application. I never received a letter of denial from the issuing bank they applied to or the company. Finally after 60 days or so I reached someone at the company and asked them why I am not getting a letter of denial and that I have the right to know the reason. I got the run around. I thought they are supposed to send that letter and it is supposed to state that I have the right to the reason for denial. I know see the hard inquiry on my report and called the company and they said they will not remove it. I told him that the company misled me stating that my business was an acceptable type of business that they approve merchant accounts specifically for. The guy told me on the phone that it looks like they denied us because of the type of business it was but he did not know for sure. I told them I would not have applied with them if they did not work with riskier companies for merchants accounts. The CA wants a letter from them in order for them to remove it. Do I have any recourse here to get it removed?
  6. I have learned a lot in two days of browsing and I greatly appreciate all of the information here so far. I have one quick question. Midland Credit Management aka Midland Funding is on my credit with a suppsed debt to a bank. They initially said I owed $5,XXX and every month or so, that amount has increased to over five figures now. Anyway, I called TransUnion about something unrelated and they tell me over the phone that it's actually scheduled for deletion off my credit report NEXT MONTH. Such joy. One report says that the date of first deliquency is April 2008, another October 2008. Should I use this information to remind these two agencies that this needs to come off my report. I am keeping a copy of my report just in case Midland tries to reage the credit or changes the date somehow. Do you think I will be able to get this information from Equifax and/or Experian somehow? Thanks for reading!
  7. I am soooo frustrated with this whole situation and desperately need help!!! I am trying to buy a house and they pulled my credit report and a collection came up that I never knew about. Yes, I did do business with this company, but I left on good terms with zero balances. The creditor is the Housing Authority in Colorado Springs. I had lost my job in 2005 and applied and received housing. I paid a discounted rent until I could finish college and find employment. In 2008 I accepted a job in Denver so I wrote them a letter saying thank you for helping me and I no longer need assistance because I found a great job and I am transferring to Denver. I moved out of the apartment I was in, received my security deposit back even, and everything was settled with housing and I had a zero balance. Now, 7 years and 8 months later, I find a mark on my credit report saying I owe $9,255!! Ouch! And of course I can't move forward with my house purchase with this on there. So I of course start with the creditor. They send me a letter dated June 4th 2008 saying I became delinquent in March 2007 and I owe $653 from 3/2007 to 5/2008. I asked them why and they said because I didn't report income to them and was working at the job I left to Denver for. They have a job offer letter saying I worked there from March 2007 but I started that job in June 2008 which is why I left. They completely have the wrong dates. I sent them my income taxes from 2007 and 2008 showing exactly when I started working at that job and they are just playing dumb because they know I want this deleted from my credit report ASAP and I'm gonna lose this house because of this. So I sent a dispute letter to transunion with all the evidence on October 28th. I sent it certified return receip requested. They received it on November 4th. On November 5th they updated my credit report as "verified, no change"!!! I just got the letter today and called them. They told me that they didn't look at the evidence that I sent in because it's not up to them and they just report what the collector says. They re disputed it for me today but I'm pretty sure the collector is going to update it again tomorrow saying it's accurate. I asked Transunion about the 7 year reporting and they said yes, they can only report it 7 years from the date of delinquency. So I asked the guy why he didn't look at the statement I sent to them showing the date of delinquency as March 2007 and again he says it's not up to him to look at my evidence and its up to the collector. Aaaahhhhhhhhhh!!! So I call back the collector and they say that the money is still owed to them so they can report it as long as they wish until they get paid. I reported both the collector and Transunion to the CFPB today. I am pissed!! What do I do? Any advice? I need this removed from my credit report like yesterday so I can get this house!
  8. I sent a 623 Letter To Bank and They Responded account was sold another bank. Direct Merchants Bank was who I filed dispute with. Got a letter back from HSBC stating account sold to a JBD, They ask me to direct inquiries to the JBD. What now? I was disputing the debt that appeared on my credit profile, the amount and date of last payment. Help!
  9. Hello, What a great forum. I have been looking it over for about 5 weeks now and researching what I can and trying to search for my answers .. Here's a brief history of my story/problem. My husband was attending a really crappy tech school, they gave us a private loan through them. My husband stopped going to this school. They are trying to bill us for the whole time of the program even tho he went only half way. While he was still in the program (right as he was getting ready to quit) I asked the school for a breakdown of what we owe so I can dispute it. The financial aid office and business office told me they offer no such breakdown and were just clueless and rude. At that point I decided to stop talking to them and deal with it if it went on to collections. My train of thought was they would not have enough records to fight me back on this. Ok a year later we received our first collection letter dated 7/18/2014 from Williams & Fudge, LLC. I came to this website and researched what to do, at that time I sent a DV letter (the template I found on here under samples). I did send it CMRRR, it was signed for by them on 8/15/2014. I received no response at all from the CA. The calls had stopped. Well yesterday I went to draft up my follow up letter to the DV. I pulled my husbands TU report and saw the CA had reported him for the first time on 9/17/2014, so after they signed for the DV letter. AND I couldn't believe it but the phone calls started back up as I was researching what to do next, what a coincidence! I know it is a violation to report on his credit until they validate the debt.. Anything else I should take note of? After sending the DV from this site, I have learned the form I used may have too much mumble jumble, so I am not really concerned they started calling again, I am concerned they are now reporting to his credit for the first time without validating the debt. The OC never reported it to any of the 3 bureaus, I had pulled all 3 of those before drafting the DV. I was only able to pull TU for free yesterday so I am not sure if they have reported on EQ and EX since. So besides the DV follow up letter, is there something else I should do at this point? Thanks so much I am in California
  10. I am in a dispute with one of the three major credit bureaus. In my research for case law and supporting documentation for what I believe are numerous FCRA violations, I came across this very helpful report from the National Consumer Law Center entitled: "Automated Injustice: How A Mechanized Dispute System Frustrates Consumers Seeking To Fix Errors In Their Credit Reports." The report breaks down the process by which Experian, Equifax and TransUnion handles consumer disputes for investigation or re-investigation, how and where they outsource the process to, the automated systems involved, non compliance issues with the FCRA, how banks largely parrot the credit bureaus poor process with a similar if not identical process thereby gaming a broken system, numerous case law examples, deposition testimony, and Congressional testimony that support the report's conclusions. I thought I would post and hope it provides useful info for others. Please see: http://www.nclc.org/images/pdf/pr-reports/report-automated_injustice.pdf Also see: www.consumerlaw.org Comments and thoughts are most welcome!
  11. I disputed with Transunion and they sent me back a letter stating that my dispute was frivolous under the FCRA,and will not re- investigate and that the items are accurate as they see it. They said that I can send them a consumer statement or contact the creditor directly. So what do I do? I disputed the amount and the last date of payment as I wanted to also verify that the SOL may be up as I think date of last payment from orginal creditor may be incorrect. I dont have records of last payment, unless I request from the bank to prove the the date of last payment Can I do that to validate my dispute with Transunion again? How much time do they have to respons since TransUnion is shutting me out.
  12. I sent a CMRRR dispute to TU and received my credit report. The letter states, “Enclosed is the TransUnion Personal Credit Report that you requested.” The only thing is, I didn’t request my CR. I sent TU a dispute letter. A few months ago, I experienced the same thing with EXP. Is this some new, stall tactic? I didn’t respond to EXP and the disputed item was deleted. I don’t plan on responding to TU but wanted to see if this is happening to anyone else? Recently, I received 3 CMRRR, green cards, the bureaus conveniently forgot to date stamp. Luckily, I have my receipts and was able to track my letter via usps.com.
  13. Hi, I'm been doing a little reading on this but I'm still unsure as to how to go about this, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. A few months ago, I pulled up my credit report and realized there were two entries on it from a certain telephone company. I disputed the entries with all three credit bureaus; they all came back verified. I then called the telephone company, and was told that these accounts were 'at a zero balance' and that they did not have any original records on them. I did get the representative's name, customer ID, and date/time of call (I take good notes! lol), so her statements should be verifiable. I'm planning on writing a 623 letter, but I'm unsure if I send it to the CA (as if they'd assist me anyhow) or if I send it to the legal department of the telephone company. From what I've read, I would send my 623 to the legal department of the telephone company, but I'm unsure of what to do. If I was supposed to, in fact, send the 623 to the legal department of the telephone company, what does the telephone company do next? Contact the CA's and tell them to remove the entry from my CR? How does all of this work? Thank you SO much for reading this I appreciate your help!
  14. Recently, I disputed several unauthorized credit inquiries on my TransUnion Report. In return, I received the most ridiculous letter and transparently bogus offer for credit monitoring in the mail from TransUnion. The letter was dated February 22 and states: Dear Consumer: We want to make you aware that due to a technical issue that we have since resolved, the security freeze that you have in place with TransUnion was briefly deactivated and during that time period one or more inquiries from a creditor or other party with permissible purpose were made on your credit file. Please note that your freeze is currently in force and we have enclosed a current copy of your credit report so that you may review the inquiries that occurred. While we believe it is very unlikely that any fraudulent activity could result from this situation, to help provide you with peace of mind, we would also like to offer you one year of complimentary TransUnion Credit Monitoring. This service will alert you if critical changes occur on your Experian, Equifax or TransUnion credit reports over the next 12 months. Do to privacy laws, we cannot register you directly. We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience this situation may have caused you. TransUnion Consumer Relations My first reaction was cool, they realized they screwed up, apologized, and offered me free monitoring to ensure I could monitor my credit in the future. I was impressed. Then I read the letter again and realized the letter is dated February 22 (a Friday), was not received by me until March 6th, and had a February 28th time limit on the offer. When I tried to activate the credit monitoring using their codes, the code had expired. When I called TransUnion about this, they were incredibly snarky and said "sorry you didn't act in time." My response cannot be printed here. I can't believe I am the only one to receive this bogus offer, and quite frankly, I'm suspicious of their actions. How absurd are these credit bureaus going to get?
  15. I sent a Dispute letter to TransUnion that was recieved by them on 2/25/2013 they have now sent back a letter requesting me to verify my address and that the documents that I originally sent were not good enough. They have put some of the accounts I disputed as "Account info dissputed by consumer" not all of them but some. So should I reply to this address validation or does that start their clock over again?
  16. Hi, I am disputing a medical collection on my credit reports. While I am disputing with the original creditor because of billing errors, I am also questioning how this is posted to my credit reports, and how the information may potentially be shared with others. My TransUnion report shows the collection listing in this fashion - Original Creditor: Med 1 02 - and then shows the medical provider's name and the type of physician. I am under the impression that the code Med 1 02 puts a privacy block on the information that follows per HIPAA regulations. Can anyone confirm this? The same listing on Experian uses no such code, but shows the medical facility, physician's practice, and type of physician, which leads me to believe they may be sharing some of my medical history with others. Is this a correct analysis? Thank you.
