tarheel99
After having a negative TL verified by EQ and TU, I sent a verification letter to the OC with only the account number EQ and TU listed on my CRs.It has been about two weeks and today I received the following letter from them."Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the account that is appearing on your credit report. We have no record of the account you mention in your last inquiry. Please send us a copy of your credit report relecting the discrepancy, so we may properly research your inquiry and notify the credit reporting agencies to correct their records if necessary. An envelope is enclosed for your convenience."Now what? How could EQ and TU possibly have verified this TL?Can I send this letter along to EQ and TU with a demand for removal? If so, is there a sample letter somewhere for this? Thanks.
kb9tbq
That is very general and they are requesting further information from you to review, not an all out agreement for deletion it leaves it open - not totally sure here. When was the last activity on this account? You may be fortunate that they no longer have you on file, that it can be removed. Hard to say which way to go, if you try to dispute for removal with each CRA; or if you play this out for them to handle the matter, which you can have a better chance if successful that they remove for you from all 3 CRAs. Swede
Can I send this letter along to EQ and TU with a demand for removal? If so, is there a sample letter somewhere for this?Send the OC another letter demanding IMMEDIATE removal since they can't seem to find you in their system, the information shouldn't be reported on your files. Track it and when you know they have it, send in the letter from the OC to the CRA. They will launch a new dispute. The OC are not allowed to respond without the notice of your dispute. Hopefully they'll remove it since they flat out told you they don't have that information. DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR CREDIT REPORT. They should know what they're reporting. tarheel99
Thanks Swede! It was my initial instinct to not send them any more information. In my initial letter I just sent them the account number TU and EQ provided and I feel that should be enough. If they can verify my account with the CRAs when I disputed it, they should be able to find it when I ask.Can you point me to sample letters for both the follow-up with the OC demanding removal and for the letter to the CRA redisputing the item? Thanks again.
