paw67
Applied for Home Depot card approximately 10 days ago and got a response that said they were unable to process the application at that time but I would be hearing from them within 10-14 days. My FICO at the time was a 694 (3 inq's, 1 collection in dispute and 1 old collection listed). I know that they pulled my EQ report because the inq. is on it but haven't heard from them yet. Wondering if anyone here has gotten the same response online and if so, how long before you heard from them (denial/approval)? I'm hoping that since I haven't already gotten a denial letter that it might have been approved. I applied for a Lowe's card about 4 days later (instant approval) and received it in the mail today.paw67
sisflomi
Well, either way, you got lowes and that is just as good. Why don't you call them up and ask them?
paw67
Thanks for the reply sis. Yeah, you're right, I do have Lowe's so it doesn't really matter. I was going to call and ask but figured I would just wait and see. DH kind of went crazy over the last week or 2 applying for new cc's in my name (my EQ FICO was 694). He applied for Corvette, GM, UP, Target Guest, Target Visa, Marshall Fields, Home Depot, Lowes and Dell. Was approved for everything except for the Home Depot (still waiting), GM denied and Marshall Fields denied (they pulled EXP). Weird thing is, I check FICO about 1 week after applying and my FICO didn't change at all even with 4 new inq's. I'm sure it will drop quite a bit once everything starts to hit my reports. I just got the Lowe's card yesterday in the mail and this morning it was already showing up on TU...boy that's fast (less than 1 week after apply).Oh well, I'll just wait and see what happens with HD. I definately won't be applying for any more credit and won't let DH do it either. We have plenty now to build on.Thanks!!paw67

DocDon
Home Depot has a much higher criteria than Lowe's although they are both processed through Monogram Bank. I got Lowe's and was denied HD. Oh well. Lowe's gets my business and HD loses, all it cost me was an inquiry, and so far HD lost out on $800 in purchases. 6 months later, Lowe's raised my credit limit, so I don't even care about HD or their card any longer. You did the same thing I did when my score shot up. I applied for everything. Now, I'm content with what I have, and have no need for other credit (unless for balance transfers). Did your FICO take a big hit when the new accounts reported? I'm sure mine will take a hit but since I didn't have alot of open TL's in the long run I feel it will rebound and I will be (hopefully ) in the 700's.Sis, I did not dispute the inq's with EQ. Thanks to bumpage, I didn't have any when I applied for the new accounts. Household only cost 1 inq for 3 apps and I already had an account with them so I couldn't dispute that one anyway. I pull PG daily and figure that within 2-3 months they will all be gone again.I'm not planning on applying for anything else until we go for a mortgage next year so I can wait until these fall off. Thanks again!!paw67

I'm sure mine will take a hit but since I didn't have alot of open TL's in the long run I feel it will rebound and I will be (hopefully ) in the 700's.Mine show as MCCB. Monogram Credit Card Bank is a Limited Issue Bank. Meaning, they are not a real "bank" (you can't walk in and open a checking accout). They are backed by a mother company, which in this case is GE. These are the other card they do that I know of:Exxon MobilLinen-n-ThingsMeijerDisneyLowe's Home DepotWal-MartEthan AllenSam's ClubMen's WearhouseHSN CardJC PennyAnd yes, my FICO dropped considerably. I only had a Cap1 card when I started. As soon as my score hit 727, I bought 2 new trucks, and got 4 credit cards with a low APR and generous limit. My score dropped to 580 when they all hit. Now, I'm back up to 610 and still climbing now that the all the inquiries are dropping, and with me keeping up with payments.I'm very content with that temporary FICO score, considering what I now have. paw67
Doc, I see that you have listed Meijer as one through Monogram. Any idea which CRA they pull and what kind of score is needed? I shop at Meijer all the time so it would be great to have to buy groceries and pay off each month. Every time that I go in there, they ask me if I want to apply for instant credit but I am still to chicken to go for the instant in store credit. As for the FICO...I'm with you. I'm not to worried about what the number is, as long as I have all positive tl's. The number wil increase as the accounts age & I pay them on time. I plan on rotating the cards so that each one is getting used every 3-4 months or so but have no intention of carrying balances unless absolutely necessary. It is so wonderful to have open/available credit. For so long we didn't have it and wanted it. Now that we have it we don't want to use it.Thanks again sis & Doc for the responses.paw67

Any idea which CRA they pull and what kind of score is needed?I have them on EQ. Not sure what score they want. I applied in April when they came out with them, so a safe bet would be a score higher than 604! Sorry I can't help you out there.
paw67
Well Doc...you made me do it . After reading about Meijer I decided to go ahead and apply online. Well, it said I was approved. Didn't say for how much but said congrats, you are a new Meijer Credit card holder, your new card will be in the mail in 7 to 10 days. It has been fun to finally get the "instant approval". I haven't gotten that in so long that it makes it easy to go a little crazy. I am truly done applying for anything else!!!! Now it will be time to build from here and show positive payment history with all of my new accounts. Thanks again for the info!!!paw67

paw67
edubb,Thanks for the congrats. Meijer is like a Super Target or Wal-mart Supercenter. They are an "everything" kind of store. I have been out of town for the last couple of days so I have not called them. I will wait and see what I get in the mail in the next couple of days and update. I do most of my grocery shopping there so it will come in handy to build a positive tl. paw67

paw67
LizzyPaw67, what was your score when you applied? LizLizzy,Score was 694, true FICO. I got the denial letter in the mail just the other day. I have 1 collection account listed and a providian AU chargeoff (can't get rid of it for anything). They denied for - lack of installment loan and collection. Obviously they are not totally score driven.DH told me to wait a little bit and ask for reconsideration once the Lowe's card is reporting on all 3. He used to work for Lowes and said that Depot quite often will approve for a card if you have a Lowes card since they are such big competitors. Lowe's is already reporting to all 3 cra's (just got the card about 10 days ago) so I will use planetfeedback to ask for reconsideration.paw67
edubb007
Paw.. Just to let you know Lowes and Home Depot are already reporting 1 month pays as agreed! I don't even HAVE the lowes card yet! lol! Boy that's fast!
