shaneham
I have about 8 Revolving accounts and 3 Installment accounts (All 0 Balances) that still show as "Open"on my CBR. These accounts have not been active for 3-5 years. Do I need to get these accounts to show "Closed". I have a credit score of 749 with Experian, 753 with Trans and 685 with EQ. EQ has all my accounts still showing "Open".I dont want to make Fair Isaac mad!!
DocDon
If the DOLA is 3-5 years ago on the revolving accounts, the reporting has stopped, meaning the accounts will stay on your reports for 10 years past the DOLA date. If they're still updating, leave them alone unless it becomes an issue with your debt to income, or your score is being lowered for having too many open accounts - you'll get that much more positive credit history out of them. If the installment loans show a $0 balance, they are considered closed and need no other nomeclature. Personally, I feel better if they show "closed/paid in full/paid as agreed". Asking they state that will not hurt your score with regard to installment loans. Just be sure to contact the OC, and do not dispute via the CRA's for risk of having the accounts deleted for non-response from the OC.
kb9tbq
Yes, definitely agree - call the creditor on the credit card accounts and request that they report them closed, don't use the CRA for this dispute - don't want to lose any tradelines if something goes wrong.
