Home Depot and Lowes!!! Yipee! Did I just write that?!?!

Recommended Posts

Saw some of the credit card threads and figured why not and applied for Home Depot and Lowes. 2 days ago approved HD for $300 limit! and Today Lowes $500 limit! Sweet! This makes my new home a better investment already! I can fix up the house and my credit in one clean swipe... I think Lowes and HD are easier for some reason. I did get turned by HD about 4 months ago but since have cleaned house at EQ! Lowes pulled TU and I have a true score of 609 and no PR's and only 2 C/O's and Providian lates in dispute. The lates are gone 8-13-03 because Providian updated my account to never delinquent and can't verify the lates. Hah! So I hope that pops the score up. Thanks all for the threads on easier cards. All I wanted was the HD card and with all of your help I got it. In 6 months I'll try Platinum when I hit 700+.

I have 6 revolving, 3 no balance and 3 installments. 2 closed no lates. I want a personal loan to diversify my file and help to get on my Fiancee's mortgage when we refi in a year or so. The personal loan I want to be unsecured and reported to all three. So I need to find a bank to get approved for and that reprts to all three. That might take 6 mos.! Lol!

Thanks for all your help KB! :p

Your mix looks fairly decent there, have 3 to 4 open credit cards at the least. And 1 or 2 intallment loans open, by average standards.

You are pretty close to that right now, and you have a good understanding of the credit scores.

What is your oldest account? might be that your credit history is not long enough, this might help if your gf has a good long established trade, for you to be added to in order to extend the history part of things.

Say your payment history is good, and just keep a mind on the utilization per account being below 30% ratio. Balance divided by the Credit Limit = percentage.

And if you picked up some of them accounts just this year, then that part is hard - you just have to wait for time to do its work on aging and building the history portion.

KB, you're so right, AGAIN! lol! I am waiting for my AU on her 8 year R1 status to hit. They report to TU. I am @ 6 years 11 mos. established history and just won a dispute w/ that TL for all neg's removed on EQ. That gave a 20 point jump! So the score is golden. I have new accounts and understand that some will have to bite the dust after a year. I have the cards I need. I just need a good solid CC w/ low financing and High CL to transfer and close FNBM and Providian. Providian is closed but R1 status. Says "Closed by consumer". Any way. 1 or 2 installment(personal) loans will look good plus when I get on the mortgage! Any other ideas. Plus know of any loan company who would approve a $1000 personal loan w/ my score? Thanks!

You need your credit reports in hand first when you go to lender, to look over before allowing them to pull their own copy of your credit report. Some are harder to get this done with, but in my experience you might try personal finance companies (just don't make a practice of working with them all the time) because of high interest rates.

Best bet, is for you to find a credit union that does not use credit scores for loan approval. We have a few here / even fewer is finding banks that work this way also. That way they judge you by the actual credit and not the score. Again do the same with providing copies of your credit reports up front, and let them know this is an effort for you to build your credit. If they want, they may require a savings account as collateral, or transfer loan into CD account.

I just checked with my local bank here today, and BOY are they expensive on the CD accounts, the best rates (like 2% & up) are looking for opening $10,000 = I about fell over when she told me that, but they did have some starting at rates of .77% for $2,500.

Still that is a bit steep, for my pockets, so just to let you know on that part.
