Anonymous
I have gone through a lot of mess to get a judgment off of my credit report that really should not have been reported in the first place. The judgment was satisfied. I filed a motion to get it vacated and won. I had to go through a lot to get it vacated and I did it all because I thought it would be removed from my credit report. Now I'm told that it will not be on public record in the courthouse, but it will remain on my credit report for 10 years. Is this true?!
kb9tbq
There is a difference here, If a judgment is entered then it remains on the credit report 7 years from the file date paid or unpaid. If satisfied then the credit report needs to be updated to reflect the proper status. If you got it dismissed / vacated then it needs to be removed from the credit report. The only thing which stays on a credit report for 10 years is a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Longer then that is a tax lien 7 years from the paid date (so if unpaid, it can remain forever).
