user33658
I called MBNA and asked them to review my account for a possible credit limit increase without making a hard inquity on my credit report. My account currently has a zero balance and an 800 limit. I've had this account since 1997 with no credit increases. I only wanted to increase my limit to help raise my credit scores. They denied the increase so I asked that my account be closed immediately. Today, I noticed on TU report that they made a hard inquiry on my account. I did not ask them to check my credit report. ughhhhhh, can they do that? kb9tbq
Account Review should not be a hard inquiry, should only be in the section reviewed by you. You can dispute with this company - disputing that you did not give them authorization to pull your credit report. And that they did anyway. You may try to use www.planetfeedback.com to get someone higher up on the complaint (or if you want to take it the opposite direction) ask them why they declined when you had good credit with them, and if they would reconsider opening your account since they cause this trouble with the hard inquiry. It could work out a few different ways depending what you ultimately wanted. You really should of kept this card open, and just tried again later for increase. The long history - helps your credit score none the less. You can still ask for the account to be re-opened.Just a thought on this matter.
