hpric1969
I just got off the phone with Equifax and was told by one of their CSR's that it is not their job to verify or validate the info on my report, all they do is write to the original creditor and update my report with the info the original creditor supplied. I asked her if she was aware that I can sue them for reporting inaccurate information and she said that she was aware of that and to go right ahead and sue them. I can't believe this BS, I didn't want to get into with her since I'm at work but I will be calling back to speak with a Supervisor to complain about the lack of customer service they have. LetoAtreides
Well, the biggest problem with getting customer service from the CRA's is the fact that we really are not their customers. The amount of money they receive from Joe Average checking their own credit report is miniscule compared to the amounts they get from OC, CA's and such.I imagine without the FCRA, they probably wouldn't bother speaking to consumers. kb9tbq
Unfortunately she was correct in this matter, that the CRA can not determine the accuracy of the information on behalf of the consumer. They just take the reporting companies verification of the matter, if the reporting company is failing to update properly, you are just going to keep hitting the same brick wall with the CRA.You need to take your dispute backwards to the reporting company to make them accountable for the continual incorrect reporting, you can sue the CRA (but their really is nothing they can do about it if the reporting company is not being up front on the accurate data). Plus sometimes there are communication problems between the reporting company & the CRA. The thing is learning how to properly investigate & update the CRA when you know you are correct and want something changed for good (like it is suppose to be). I know some say not to do their job for them, but you have a choice I you want to wait forever for them to figure it out, or if you want update so you can move on to other things like applying for a major loan.
