stacykat Posted August 4, 2003 Report Posted August 4, 2003 I posted another thread about my situation but now I have a question regarding how to dispute this account. The collection I have is for $1300 for supposed apt. damage, the CA only provided me with a list of charges for repairs and no receipts proving the repairs were actually made. Since they will not delete, I was going to dispute as "incorrect amount". I hit a snag though, I noticed that the amount they have on my credit file is $1300 but the amount on the document they gave me says $1600. Now I'm afraid if I dispute is as "incorrect amount" they will change it to $1600 on my file. Should I not dispute as incorrect amount now? Should I try incorrect date of last activity instead? Any help would be great.::EDIT:: and get a load of this, the CA just sent me a collection notice stating "this is a golden opportunity to settle this account without further collection activity" hahahaah....at least they are good for a laugh!
kb9tbq Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I would leave alone disputing the balance - go around it to other general disputes likeIncorrect Date Opened / AsignedIncorrect statusThen might circle back around to not mine later...
