unlawful debt!!

Recommended Posts

Hello, :o I find myself in a situtation where, I went to a doctor for a regular visit and had a some tests done. Such doctor said that everything was included in the $155.00 price tag of the visit. A few weeks later I received a bill from a lab for $125.00 for the price of the tests. I am wondering if I am legally responsible for the payment of such bill even after the doctor lie to me on the intial consiltation.

Thanks for your time.....

You have to DV the CA who the debt was assigned to. Who is sending you the bill the CA or the doctor

Lab fees are almost NEVER included in the doctor's fees ! They send those tests to an outside lab and then YOU have to pay the lab costs. If your insurance doesn't pay it, then you're on the hook. I doubt the doc blatantly lied to you, perhaps he misunderstood your question.

Pay the lab fees, or call the doc's office and ask him !

I agree with LadynRed,

Please consider the following when you think about accusing a doctor of lying to you.

The doctor has his own office. The lab test are referred out. They are not a part of your doctor's office unless he states that he is sending you to an associate of the office. There is always the possibility of miscommunication. That is why you should always ask questions at the consultation appointment.

Every lab is independent and may be covered under your medical insurance but like lady said, the work was done on you so yes you are obligated to pay the bill.
