Anonymous
How can an account show it was charged off and still show past due with a balance? My husband has an account that was charged off in 1996 and has been re-aged to show it didn't charge off until 1997.(if they would have left it alone it would have been gone this summer) Then it shows as a charge off with a balance that they keep upping and it shows past due too. I thought if they took a tax credit for a charge off, it couldn't still show a balance due that keeps going up..and show past due..any one got any ideas about this? Anonymous
Thanks, so if the last payment was made in 8-96, and it has always showed date of last activity as 8-96, then it should fall off this year correct? It is still with the OC, however, it now shows date of last activity as 10-97. The limit on this card was under 1,000.00 I don't remember what it was exactly, but now is shows a balance of almost 2,000!! With it suppose to be off this year, and now they've re-aged it till next year, will a mortgage lender make us pay that b-4 they give us a loan? It shows our high credit of 217.00 and the balance charged off and owing 2,000. Too confusing!! ugh!!
Anonymous
So even thought the statue of limitations is up and this is like 7 months from being the 7 year limit, they would want us to pay the 2,000 on a line of credit that was I think around 500.00?Anything negative that we have left is all from 1996-97 depending on the way they view the dates. Will that keep us from getting a mortgage with stuff that old, and great credit since then? What a bummer.
Anonymous
Ooops... to answer your first question..,.no he didn't make any payments after 8-96. All of our credit is good from then on. 1996 was a bad year This particular card was a visa I think, but Sears pulled the same thing on us going from 1996 to showing 1997! This has been RE-AGED! That's ILLEGAL and you need to delete this NOW!"
Anonymous
Thanks guys for all the great responses. Unfortunately, I don't have the old report that shows it was from 1996, so I've tried to dispute as being re=aged on the visa and sears and we'll see how that goes.
