I have been reading this board for some time, and think it is wonderful.... Never realized we had so many rights in the credit world. I disputed a couple of paid charge off accts and they were deleted.... Yeh

I have a question concerning a cable bill that was paid to the cable company during the same time that I received a letter from a CA telling me they were reporting me for the severely overdue account with their client. This has been verfied by the CRA. I know about the Miranda act, however I read that the CA did not have to give you 30 days if you had already paid the debt? My payment cleared my bank 7 days (including a weekend) from the date the letter from the CA was dated which was 1/21/2002. Seems our correspondence crossed in the mail. I disputed this at the beginning of the year, and on 4/13/2003, I got a letter from them saying that they were notified that my acct had been paid in full and had updated my acct. I paid this a year ago. Anyway, how can the original creditor accept my payment, then give the go ahead a CA to report me? Should I send a nice letter requesting removal... or do I send a debt validation letter making them prove to me that they have the right to collect on the debt, even though, they never collected on anything. What gives them the right to report me in the first place. I have never talked to these people.

Sorry for the long question, but this is pretty much the only thing that I really need to get off of my report other than some late pays. I do not want to do the wrong thing.

Okay...I think I understand...

1) Dispute again

2) Send DV to CA

3) Send Goodwill letter to OC - be very nice - accept responsibility for the late payment - give them a very good reason why you ended up in the situation. Tell them that sometimes murderers get out of prison in less than seven years, please grant you early release from having this on your CR for 7 years, yada yada...
