Big-HE
Has anyone ever had luck getting a Collection agency to stop reprting once paid? I made the mistake of paying some before I found this board. [Edit by Big-HE on Friday, April 18, 2003 @ 12:15 PM]
chingasaholo
call the CA, ask them for a letter/proof a payment. make them provide that to you in writing. Most will do this, then send it to the CRA's and in a letter ask them to delete the item as per creditor. Even if the letter says "paid as agreed" they may just delete the item. I did it 3 times with some old collections I paid and each time they were deleted from all three bureaus. If they dont delete it, keep sending it too them until they do, eventually one of the trolls at the CRA will slip up and delete it.ching

You can try using the "nutcase" approach which is a series of letters developed by a credit vet called Psychdoc. Here's a link to a thread where you can find the letters http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/cgi-local/cutecast/cutecast.pl?forum=1&thread=2921 <blockquote>Originally posted by chingasaholocall the CA, ask them for a letter/proof a payment. make them provide that to you in writing. If they can't put it in writing, it's probably not true. If using this approach, I strongly suggest doing it in writing and I'm not sure how a letter of "paid in full" from a CA will show the CRA that the OC wants to delete the information from the consumers file. I'm glad it worked for you, just never heard of it I guess
