Addresses hurt my credit?

 I was told by a person who works for a credit company that being a college student could have hurt my credit. She said that college kids move around a lot & the different addresses show as negative. I recently tried to get an apartment & was declined by one point. How can I have some addresses removed from my credit? I noticed a few on there that I never actually lived at, I just had some things mailed there so that I wouldn't have to wait until I went home on the weekends from school.

Here is a suggestion...

Before getting my house, I often moved from apartment to apartment. It was a big hassle getting my mail forwarded and credits ALWAYS asked how long have I lived at my current address and previous address.

I then got a private mailbox.

I am now guaranteed that I always get my mail sent to the same address regardless of where I live. And I use that as my residence and it only costs me eleven bucks a month. You cannot beat that especially with all the benefits that come along with it.

I simply use the box number and every place assumes that it must be an apartment. Now all my creditors and the CRAs thing my private mailbox is my residence and it has tremendously helped in my credit application.

I also got a few other previous addresses removed from my credit report so that I could claim in my applications for credit that I have lived there for a longer period of time.

And it has worked out great.

I even fooled the mortgage company who thought I lived at my private mailbox. And guess what?

It is also my address on my driver's license!!!

And I don't mind telling a cop that every night at midnight, I get really small, like two inches tall and spend every night in my little mailbox.

Last year I had trouble with DH & kids getting into the mail & messing me up on paying bills. So I switched to having a mail box; well that was a blessing; in my case we have had the PO Box better than 6 months - still seeing mail coming through. Will be buying a home soon & want to take care of all of these before we leave this house.

If you are moving around a lot; you are better off with PO Box; so you don't have to worry about what is left behind - for strangers to use against you to open fraudulant credit card accounts and the such.

The reason I like a private mailbox is that you don't have to deal with the red tape of the post office. And you can receive FEDEX, UPS, or any other kind of deliveries. Get faxes, etc.

But my biggest bonus has been passing of the box number as a residence.

That has been my biggest bonus.

Especially in the past when I did more contract work and independent consulting and certain business transactions (then I passed off my box number as an office number). That allowed me to keep business life TOTALLY separate from my personal life. Some folks are fine that their business contacts know their home address. When dealing with corporate environments, I always expected professional behavior, but when dealing with small businesses, many have poor ettiquete and lack of professionalism.

Either way, a PO box or a private mailbox is a great way to ensure you always get your mail and show stability for your addresses.

75 addresses!!!

Definitely get those addresses eliminated from your credit report. And if any bad credit is based on one of those addresses, definitely get that address removed and then you can state that it wasn't you.

That is what I am doing with my tax lien. It is a public record with an address that the CRAs don't have and my dispute is that "I never lived there".

I spent more than an hour on the phone with an EXP rep getting rid of old, extraneous, and incorrect addresses. My personal information section was longer than my credit section.

I blamed it all on my ex-husband

:D
