creditmess
Ok, so I just reviewed my freshly received TU report and noticed Collection Account from GULFCO.. WTF? It looks like the bought a collection account from another company because I have other listing from Household which says "Purchased by another lender". Both are from the same original creditor and both show same balance. WTF? Wouldn't that be double listing???????How should I approach this? I never heard from any of these people (for years at least I didn't hear from Household place) The GULFCO is new to me. It shows...Placed 08-2002, Updated 01-2003 WTF IS THIS?How should I deal with this ???
kb9tbq
What is the last activity with House Hold - is it still within the SOL?
creditmess
As it shows on TU report that I just receivedHousehold:Updated: 09-2000Opened: 06-1997Closed: 06-1997Status as of 06-1997: Collection AccountGULFCO:Updated: 01-2003Placed: 10-2000Status as of 01-2003:Collection AccountI assume that GULFCO is a Collection Agency for Household since they have same balances.. kb9tbq
You still have some time on the reporting - so a new collection agnecy picked up the account. Was there a prior collection agency working this account? If so they should remove their reporting; since they would not longer be working the account.Looks like you still have another year on the CRA showing this; what about the SOL for your state? Is it past them legally collecting? If so dispute - may have to send them a Cease & Desist letter. Once the pick up trying to harrase you.
creditmess
my state is 6 years so I guess I still have few months for SOL...There is no other listing for this debt on my report. Just those 2. I guess Household is original creditor and GULFCO is CA then.Oh well... couple more months...
kb9tbq
Definately lay low - quite as a mouse till they are out of reach of getting you. Would not dispute this one at all - unless you don't mind running into the possiblility of having to settle with this company.
