Hi to everyone, i am brand new to this site. I have read several posts, and all i can say is THANK YOU JESUS for finally finding a website that is both informative and non judgmental. I have several questions i hope someone can help me with. I have limited income and have been trying for years to chip away at the overwhelming bad debt that i owe. I filed for BK7 and it was discharged 4-98. My problem is that i VERY stupidly kept my credit card debt, got behind, and finally quit paying on them. I have settled one, and the other 2 are discharged. They are old from back in 98 or 99. I don't have the money to pay them off or i would. Over the years i have been paying the smaller debts that have gone to collections, i just paid off the remainder of my old collections, except for these 2 old credit cards. Obviously, my credit is bad. I have one car loan that was reaffirmed at the time of BK7 that was paid in full, never late, but has not helped me to get any more credit extended to me. Where do i go from here? I have learned that i need to try to get these chargeoffs deleted, but how? And there is one account on my credit report for a secured mortgage from wendvr fndng that i have never heard of. I have never had a mortgage, it shows zero balance and that the account was transferred or sold, how do i get that taken off? Thanks to any that could help me :confused:

First, do not send any more money to a CA for now. I am assuming you have a copy of each credit report. Go over each one and look for all errors, such as, items still showing as collection when they were included in BK. You get the idea. Then sit down and write a letter to each reporting agency disputing the negative items as "not mine" or, "included in BK". The CRA has 30 days to respond. Wait and see what happens. Be sure to check each collection you have been or are now dealing with to assure if they were or were not included in BK. Then, check your State's Statute of Limitations to see if any of these debts are time-barred. Look for the date of last activity on each report. Add the number of years to that year and you will know if the CA or OC can still sue you. If the debt is beyond the SOL, tell them to take a hike. At the same time you are doing this, read as much as you can on this site. You will then have a better idea of what I am saying. It is going to take some time, so bear with it.

Ok, i checked the sol and i have 1 more year on these 2 credit cards. I also have an unsecured joint loan on my credit report that my ex husband was responsible for paying. It is delinquent and the last date of activity is 5-02. How do i get rid of this? I remember co signing the loan, but the divorce said he had to pay it. Now, since i have 1 more year on these credit cards, what do i do? Just wait it out?

Hello,

I am interested in getting info from anyone who has experience with "debt elimination". I have researched a site, www.bankhonesty.com, and they preach debt elimination and have books for sale by Tom Schauff, teaching others how to do it. It sounds radical to me, and I cannot tell if it is even possible and/or legal. Any input would be helpful.
