Lizzy
I have been reading the post on here and see alot of talk about a goodwill letter. What exactly is it, and who does it go to? If you are seriously late on an account can you send one to your orignal creditor? I am on a mission to clean up my report and then work on my husbands after I see what I can get done for me. We own a home and have never been late on our mortgage. Which I am sure helps us but our credit is a mess.
md
There are some samples around here of goodwill letters. Basically, it is a letter to your OC telling them that you have been a valued customer of theirs for however so long and that you messed up a couple of times but since then you have been a good customer and continue to do so. The negative marks on your credit report from them are hurting you and as a goodwill gesture could they please remove the derogatory information. Some send these letters in, others use planetfeedback.com
Lizzy
I was on that plantfeedback.com and couldn't find one. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place. Has this approach helped anyone here? My accounts with capital one are from 96 and 99. And I also have a providian from 98 that has been sold that I am disputing. I will go read again and see what I can find. Thank you.
md
You will find one in these forums. I read some posts a couple days ago that contained actuall goodwill letters. What you can use planetfeedback for is to send the letters that way to the OC. Lizzy
Thank you so much. Now my question is, can you use this letter even if you haven't paid in years? I don't want to look like an a** sending this to them. Will I hurt myself by sending this by them and will they re-open my file even though it has been since 1999 that a payment has been made? Sorry for all the questions but I am reading and reading and getting more confused then finding out the right path to take. My report says these will stay on file until 2007, should I just ride it out? Or is there a way to pay the debt and get all that bad paying history cleared? morrow
I would suggest using this letter on accounts that you have, open or closed, that have past late pays.I used it and it worked for me with SEARS. I have also tried this letter with FORD, FIRST USA, PROVIDIAN, WELLS FARGO, FNANB, FCNB, Bon Marche, and DISCOVER with no results.I kept sending the letter to SEARS, the first and second time they said they couldnt do anything, the third time mysteriously worked and they took off all the late pays! fixmycredit
Morrow. FCNB is a pain to deal with. I had a settled accout with them. I paid it but it still showed as a chargeoff. I have spenthours on the phone with them. I got it deleted because I couldnt get anywhere with the creditor.
morrow
I dont have much to say about them.I HAD an account with them, sent them a goodwill letter to get a couple old late pays off and they wrote me back saying they have no record of my account.I already disputed it with the CRA as never paid late, so hopefully it will be turned to paid never late.
