I have five derogatory accounts, 3 of which are paid. If I send out a letter demanding validation to all the creditors is there any possible way this can come back to haunt me?

Thanks,

Zoloft

BTW: Here's the letter:

Dear Sirs:

Under the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act), I have the right to request validation of the debt you have reported to the CRAs. I am requesting proof that I am indeed the party you are asking to pay this debt, and there is some contractual obligation that is binding on me to pay this debt. On page two are a few questions to answer, which may help resolve these mistakes.

You should be aware that you have thirty days to obtain verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment and mail it to the consumer.

You should also be aware that a computer-generated print out of the debt does not constitute proof. Also you are not legally entitled to any fee to furnish this information.

If you cannot provide validation then you must cease attempting to collect the debt, you may not contact me regarding the debt and are required to cease reporting the debt. Failure to comply is a violation of the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) and makes you liable for damages.

In addition to the questionnaire below, please attach copies of:

Agreement with your client that grants you the authority to collect on this alleged debt:

* Agreement that bears the signature of the alleged debtor wherein he agreed to pay the creditor.

* Any insurance claims been made by any creditor regarding this account

* Any judgments obtained by any creditor regarding this account

Respectfully,

Debt Validation Form
