techgoddess
I was going over my husband's credit report and I've noticed that it's significantly better than mine. All of his student loans are showing as paid with a zero balance (since we consolodated our student loans together, they're all on my CR for some reason.) The collections on his credit report have been paid and other than owing $4000 to Discover, the few bad tradelines on his report are past SOL. It seems to me like it should be a piece of cake to get his credit cleaned up (I started mine and his at the same time and haven't gotten any results back yet.) Now, my question is this: Could we get a mortgage based on his credit only once his scores are up? The only problem I can think of with doing it this way is that I make more money than he does (almost twice as much) and there's no way he could qualify for a cardboard box here in southern california on just his income. marisakay
we too are hoping to buy a house very soon, so i am first cleaning up DH's whose credit is much better then mine, i have been told by many that most bansk/mortgage brokers use the person who makes the most as the main person to look at ..since i dont work i am assuming that they will mainly use my dh's only..however they will still look at mine to make sure there are no unpaid collections and stuff like that and if there are unpaids they will make u have them paid off before approving the loan..but i have been told that to base the interest rate they will look only at his CR..hope someone can shed more light on this topic...________CB650 Edited January 20, 2011 by marisakay
