Rebuild or Wait

I'm in the process of trying to have several things deleted from my credit, but if everything is deleted there won't be anything at all. My question is, should I take one of these VERY VERY high interest rate credit cards or should I just be patient and wait until everything is deleted?

It really depends on your situation. If you get everything deleted and have no credit history at all it will be almost as difficult. You might try going with a secured credit card to at least start establishing something positive.

Yes I have a little success 2 charge-offs removed from experian, 3 charge-offs/collections from transunion, 2 collections removed from equifax. So I have had some success, but trying to be patient, but I want to keep progressing not become stagnant.

I know its tough to wait, but just think about the big picture.

When I started to see results the thing that went through my mind the most was "I can't even imagine what its going to be like the next time im ready to buy a car or a house, or better yet, applying for a credit card feeling almost positive that I will get approved."

My DH and I both got our first cc when we were 18, we were young, no kids, no bills, we figured what the heck, lets max em out!

A few months later we got pregnant and had to grow up, real fast! We have been through some pretty tough times, almost filed BK, but we stuck through it. To add to our situation, when my daughter was 3 months old we found out we were pregnant again! (Yeah, didnt waste any time there! 14 months apart, thank you very much!)

Im 25 now and I am almost done paying off ALL my debt ($7500, thats including my car) We plan on buying our first home this summer.

Im sure if we wanted to we could buy a house now, but if I could hang in there just a few more months and get our CR cleaned up, that few months of waiting could end up saving us ALOT OF $$$ in what would have been a higher interest rate.

Okay dude, now that you know my life story.....anyways

I am in the same boat as you; lots to do. I decided that I wanted to rebuild as I clean up.

I got a secured card from Orchard Bank $300. I also got a secured loan from a bank for $1000 and it reports unsecured. I also took a chance with one of those "fake" credit cards. I have a $7500 credit limit. Of course it is to buy overpriced junk merchandise, but if you buy one thing for $100 and pay it off 6-8 months, you build some good credit. They report as unsecured credit and a $7500 limit can only help.

morrow, this is so weird but are past are so similar!!!

Got married at 18 and got lots of credit!! Had fun shopping then I got pregnant and quite work and it all went down hill. Then when baby was 4 months old I got pregnant again. Our credit was completely ruined! Now at 25 also with a 4 and 5 year old I realize how important good credit is and I want a home for me and the kids.

Just found out about all this credit repair a few months ago, till then I thought I was just doomed for 7 years. Well I have 3 negs left, I will make arrangements to pay if I have to and my husband has a few more I have to work on then I am getting a secured card and starting rebuilding, So maybe in a couple years or so I can get my own home.

You know, I think me, morrow and headache could totally hang out together. I'm 28 and have an 11 year old. When I got married (at 19) my DH and I were both students, had no bills, cheap rent and a car paid for with cash. We really NEEDED that stereo, tv, pizza, whatever. Less than 6 months later I got pregnant with our daughter who had chronic ear infections and we had no insurance. Weekly doctor visits sure do add up. Then we needed things like food, gas, formula, medicine. Our only income was student aid and eventually we couldn't keep paying our credit card bills. We were even on welfare for a while. And that was just while we were students. It's so nice to know that I'm not the only one in this boat.

Im feel ya tech!

Ive worked my whole life until just last August when I got laid off.

When I was working I made really good money!

My husband is an Ironworker and makes really good money too!

It seems like since I havent been working, all my bills are getting paid now, and we are closer than ever to finally being able to by a home.

Its weird how something so bad such as a lay-off could turn out to be so beneficial on our circumstances.

Plus it gives me all day to chit-chat with everyone on the board! ;)

I was out of work for a year (dot-com casualty.) I wish I had been working on fixing our credit then. Things are starting to look up though. I've got a great job (I can play around on the internet while my programs are compiling.) My husband is going back to school (he hates his job, he wants to be a college professor.) We were able to buy two cars (interest sucks but it's rebuilding our credit.) We tried to buy a house and that's when we knew we really had to clear all this stuff up. Now that I've found this board, I really think we'll get a house.

I also just wanted to extend my gratitude to this board. Like everyone else I thought I was doomed for the rest of my life. Never in a million years did I ever think about owning a home. My husband has good credit and he really wanted us to move foward and purchase our first home. I started to get really scared because my credit was not as good as his and I felt my bad credit would be a burden towards him and our future. DH was really supportive and did not put any judgement towards me for the foolish mistakes I made in my early twenties. He was also in the same boat as me and when he realized he need to change his habits in order to have a fruitful future. He looked into taking matters into his own hands. In less than one year he was able to bring his score up to 743.

I joined this board last month and in one month my scores have gone up to over 100+ points. I had one judgment that was taken off with no problems. Seven paid collections taken off. I am currently working on DV on two more collections and hopefully they will be removed. And I just sent GW letter to Providian to please delete on 30days late payment. My other credit card is current and I have never been late.

Now I guess I can move forward and allow myself to dream of a fruitful future with my DH. Planning to purchase our first home together by July - August of this year.

EQ - 648

EX - 628

TU - 639

Thanks So Much

Roni

Nice job! :D

Let me know how it goes with Providian, my DH has an account with them and I have sent them numerous GW letters and they wont do a damn thing!

They keep saying that thier records are reporting accurately and they cant go back and change them. :(
