Anonymous
What is the law on this, I had a bf who gave me a card for an account, he paid the bill. I stopped using it but now he has run up the bill and they have put it on MY credit report. CAN I have this removed since i was only and AUTHORIZED user. What if he used the card with MY name on it to make any of those purchases, can I be liable? Stupid mistake on my part, I know! But any info would be appreciated! md
Call the CC company and tell them to remove your name as an authorized user and to put an update in to the CRAs.A while back I had an authorized user on one of my accounts. I did not want it reported on this person's account and didn't think it would be, but this person pulled a CR and there it was. I was so pissed.Definitely try calling as that would be the fastest way and tell them that you did not ask nor authorize to be placed on that card as an authorized user and to remove your name immediately, as well as send an update to the CRAs. Good luck!
headache
you can also disputes these with the CR's and it will come off. Experian even has an option for the reason disputing as "belongs to main account holder" (something like that). I had several of these and they all came off no problem. Anonymous
Thank yoU! I sent the dispute stating that they were not mine and they were authorized, but I just wanted to make sure I was within the law on this matter.
Anonymous
Actually, In response to the one above, I do believe on 1 of them I signed the document to be added as an "authorized" user, I know I was not the CO-APP or JOINT account. Also I did allow them to put me on as authorized and I did use the card for a period of 6 months, which it was paid in full each of those months. It was after that period that the bills went out of control and I had no idea until recently, when it of course appeared on my credit report.Any further insight here? Thank yall for your help btw! Swix
About six years back, I requested Citibank remove me as an authorized used and they did.I called and them and lied saying that I requested to be removed from the card 2 years earlier and they did not do it. I acted like I was very upset they had not responded to my request of two years ago(which I knew full well i had never made)By the time I made the request, the card was really delinquent and may have even been a charge-off but they still removed me from the card and the account information from my CR. They did send me a letter stating that they were removing the information as a courtesy to me but that they had the right to have placed it there in the first place. I was like, "whatever". As long as it gone, I'm fine
