FICOfocused
I have seen alot of people posting about privacy guard. Can you pull your report daily or do you just get one? Is it all three reports? I am hesitant to sign up if people have had any bad experiences with it. Please let me know. Thanks, as always these boards are so helpful and informative and I appreciate all the help I get here.
thefall
I signed on with them yesterday. I had asked around here before if people were happy with them and if the into rate was legit and received mostly positive feedback.other stuff:-you can pull from them daily-they provide your EQ score(updated daily)you can look at it any time you want; if you want the other 2 I think you have to pay $10.00-IIRC you will pay that every time you want those-payment history only shows for the last 2 years-shows personal history, acc. info, inq.'s etc for all 3 CRA'sSeems like a good deal to me.I was wondering if they showed disputes, which would be an excellent tool to see if CA's or the CRA's are following the law. If anyone knows I would appreciate an answer.
crofttk
It shows disputes for me and my wife on EQ and EX but not TU. I've been reading where TU doesn't have the software to show in dispute for what they give to resellers like PG. Makes me wonder how TU gets away with it versus FCRA requirements.I use PG mainly to monitor dispute progress and to see if CRAs and OCs are updating file to show in dispute. At the current $1 for 90 day trial ($90/yr thereafter) it's not a bad deal. If you don't want it past 90 days, just cancel and ,theoretically, no more charges. Two cautions:1) I've seen some people talk of TU file splits and good TLs disappearing due to daily pulls. Others (most, hopefully) seem to benefit from daily pulls by it eventually causing Hard Inquiries to fall off (EQ & TU only). My knowledge is strictly anecdotal (hearsay) so search around and satisfy yourself.2)I say "theoretically" no more charges because I've also run across posts where people said they cancelled the signup before the trial expired and ended up being charged $90 anyways, again all hearsay but a caution to verify cancellation once made.Good Luck ! raisingmyscore
I heard the same thing about being hit with the $90 after cancelling, but I must say that in my opinion, it would be worth every last penney if they charged $90 every single month. The bumpage and the ability to monitor deletions of disputed inquiries and trade lines is awesome.

LetoAtreides
As given by raisingmyscore in the aforementiioned thread:I had the same problem at first. OK, log on as usual , click on "VIEW YOUR REPORTS", then the next screen has a box that says-View my 3 Bureau Report, and Score(s) View My Past Reports View My Monitoring Alert That is for PAST reports, look over to the left and you will see "request reports" click on 3b credit report w/ 1b score. It will APPEAR as if you have to re-enter your CC info but leave that blank-- ONLY enter your SSN and click the "i agree" button and PRESTO- your free daily report. I pull mine everyday (oh stop it! you know what I mean!!) and it has helped with inquiries dropping off.I will stick around for a few to see if you had success!! let me know! breathing_easier
I've been reading the threads re Privacy Guard, and read the info on their site, but am still confused. Anonymous
I signed up for PG last week and they keep on asking for an access code where is it I didn't get one or if i did i don't remember getting one so where do you get your personal access code? crofttk
Do you mean User ID ?They would have showed that to you when you signed up and then e-mailed it to you along with a membership number.
Anonymous
nope it says please enter your personal acess code. I got a membership number that's not the access code and they gave me a membership name but no personal access code
crofttk
This is the page I log in from:https://www.privacyguard.com/pages/Membership/secure/SignIn.asp?How 'bout you ? :notsure: [Edit by crofttk on Monday, April 28, 2003 @ 07:47 PM]
cleancreditby04
The personal access code is something they send to you in the mail, to make sure it's you. You only have to use it the first time. I called when I had the same problem and the guy asked me a few questions then told me what it was. I made sure to sign in while he was on the phone and it worked fine. Try calling and see what happens, otherwise you just have to wait till it comes in the mail. breathing_easier
Sorry to post this again (I WILL NOT be ignored! ) but how does using PG help get hard inquiries off a CR? Have read the PG site and the threads here, but still confused. </blockquote>Any disclosure, including PG and WK pulls, will generate a soft inquiry (if it's coded correctly by the data vendor). People have reported on TU (via WK or PG) and EQ (via PG), but not EX, having hard inquiries (those that users of your credit report can see and which can lower your FICO score) DISAPPEAR from their credit files after pulling a large number of times. My personal (speculative/intuitive) theory is that the section of your file for inquiries is allocated a fixed amount of storage space and once that space is filled, the hards are bumped off in favor of the new softs. It just seems that it's a simple weakness in the systems at TU and EQ that people have stumbled on and are exploiting as quietly as possible before the CRAs devote the time and energy to doing something about it.That's all I can offer by way of explanation.Anyone else ?[Edit by crofttk on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 @ 10:16 AM]
