Find yourself a small picture or animated gif image on the internet. A good place is http://www.freeavatars.net/

When you find one you like, right click your mouse over the image and click on "properties".

In the properties menu, you'll see Address (URL). Hold down the left mouse button and highlight the entire address. Right click your mouse and select "copy".

Log onto this site and click on the "user cp" button to access your profile. Right click your mouse in the "Avatar" box and select "paste".

That should do it.

Remember folks, if you are linking to someone else's site and wondering why your picture isn't coming up...There are limits on alot of sites about how much data (say 500M per day) can be viewed from the site.

Get a few peeps reading email on here and your going to lock their site out for the day pretty quick. Thats why so many say DO NOT LINK TO THIS SITE.

An alternative is to upload your avatar to a webpage of your own and then just point to that. I'm not sure what the negative bandwidth potentials are with that but at least you control whether it's still there or not. I set mine up on the free geocities webpage you can get with a free yahoo mail account.

Nope, when I browse directly to it I do though. I have tried to get my avatar's up with geocities and have not been able to get it to host pics right for me. I think its just them...but even with MSN it will display for a few days, then stop.

thats because geocity doesn't allowe outside linking....plus they have limit on bandwidth per hour I think....so everytime someone views your post, they hit your little geocities account with bandwidth..it adds up quick
