Disputing A Credit Inquiry

I have been reading through the board for a couple of weeks now and would like thoughts on my first step into helping my boyfriend improve his credit report.

Several months ago we bought a new GMAC truck- all paperwork is in my name and he never signed any documents. However, we did mention to the finance guy that we would not be using BFs info because of his credit history. I pulled his TU report a few weeks ago and see that they pulled his CR with a PP=Credit Transaction. Is this allowable? He did not sign any documents, provide SSN, or put his name on the title. The only reason they had his full name is because the salesman had written it down from an initial phone call.

If not allowable, to dispute do I contact specific dealership, GMAC, or CRA?

Thanks- This board is very helpful and we have a long way to go with several negative items and a CH7 BK.

Would try letter to the dealership; informing them that they where not given permission to access credit report; that he does not have any loan with them nor applied and that they best be removing this from his credit report asap. And that you require them to provide confirmation letter that this matter will be taken care of.

Definately go after them first; they know they did not have permission and should move quite quickly to resolve the matter. Would be a good use for www.planetfeedback.com to get their attention.

;)
