this is the message I get when trying to register in equifax in order to access my credit report

"We're sorry! We are having difficulty verifying your identity. In order to

complete your order, please contact our Customer Care Centre at 1 800

871-3250, 7 days a week from 8:00 am until 12:00 am Eastern Standard Time"

any suggestions as to why? could it be they have no record of my credit line?(I left Canada 8 years ago)

Well that is interesting; but this would only leave you with having a a smaller file; had you established credit here since then? Credit Cards; Auto Loans; Installment Loans.

Have you been moving around recently; if they can't locate your address or if a creditor has not recently confirmed your address; it is definately better that the CRAs reserves releasing your credit report until you can provide copy of your drivers license & confirmation of your address.

I NEVER CONTACTED ANY OLD CREDITORS, AND I NEVER MADE ANY CREDIT RELATED TRANSACTION (I NEVER APPLIED FOR CREDIT ALSO.LET ME MAKE A CORRECTION HERE, MY FIRST POST REFFERS TO AN ATEMPT TO REGISTER TO EQUIFAX SO I CAN ACCESS MY REPORT. IN ANY CASE, IS IT POSSIBLE THEY CAN NOT RECOGNIZE ME BECAUSE I HAD NO ACTION OVER THE LAST 8 YEARS?I HAD SOME DEBT I NEVER DEALT WITH WHEN I LEFT (3OOO DOLLARS, INCLUDING A BOUNCED CHEQUE)

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT

If you call them you will not get your report either. They are having problems so it is not just you. I had the same message and called.(I had pulled a report from them before) They were able to pull my name but for some reason they could not get it. Said it was technical difficulties. Said they would send to technical and I would hear from them in 24 hours. (nothing yet) All they will do is try your credit card again. I would say wait a few days. I have 3 charges from them on my card. Which they assured will come off since I did not receive a report

No no no. Don't worry about it. The exact same thing happened to me and I just called them and gave them some information and verified who I was. They immediately gave me online access and everything was okay. Sometimes things just don't match up perfectly and they make you call them to verify. There's nothing to worry about though.

I have not had made any credit related transactions (nor payed any debts i might have left)for 8 years. Dooes that make it possible equifax has absolutely no data, no file for me? that is,could it be that everything has been erased?Do I have to apply for credit in order to "create" a file again?

THat same thing happened to me after they had given me a couple of "test" questions online. I called them up, and the rep informed me that it does that so that roughly 75% of the customers have to call in to get their reports(my question had to do with a mortgage they said I may or may not have acquired.. but it wasn't on my credit report, and I had never even so much as applied for a mortgage). I got my CR after about 10 minutes on the phone with chickie so she could verify my information.
