Analisa
I have about 3 paid judgments on my credit report. Can I dispute these with the court house? What are my odds - they don't seem good.
Anonymous
Have the CRAs remove all previous addresses and names you have used especially if that info pertained to you at the time that the judgment was obtained against you.Reasoning? The courthouse need two pieces of information to 'match' you to the record, both your name and address. If one one matches but the other does not, the match was not made=no verification that it belongs to you=deletion from your report.
Analisa
Can I ask the CRA to do that? Am I allowed to request my old address's to be removed?
Anonymous
Yup, tell them that those are not your addresses.

Is this with all public records??? As in, my bk was in my married name, and a different address. They can't just put my ss# in and verify it that way???? wert
I hate to be a fly in the ointment, as they say, but there may be two other problems that won't let this idea work.1. The court house is just going to acknowledge that the judgment is on file. I used to work at a court house doing this, and we never required two pieces of information for identity. We just said if it was on file or not.2. Dolan Information Services, which you can find online, is the company that actually verifies a lot of the public record entries. They are constantly updating their records and a lot of the time they are the ones that are contacted by the CRA's.You can ask for your file from Dolan and try to delete it there! sisflomi
Good info Wert. I didn't think that would work with court house. If it did, I think we would all change our names or addresses and remove the old from cra's. would you ask the cra to check with dolan than? How would you word that in a dipute??? Or go directly to dolan??? [Edit by sisflomi on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 @ 12:30 PM]
wert
Go directly to Dolan. If you get public info deleted from them, you'll most likely get it deleted when you dispute it with the CRA's.Most CRA's don't actually check the court house each time. That would be too time consuming. They check Dolan."Their one source for public information"!!!

I've got one judgement.. I had co-signed an apartment for a buddy of mine who got thrown out(his lease had expired.. they decided to *refuse* payment one month and then put eviction proceedings on him) and I didn't even know about it. I had never been served any paperwork.. it was just sort of.. there.. one day on my CR.Apparently my buddy had actually gone to his eviction hearing, but I guess Washington isn't too renter friendly so he still lost. But I never got word of any of this until it had hit my credit report. I'd really like that item removed(and the separate negative tradeline that goes with it, but I can deal with that through means I know i.e. dispute and DV)
